TITLE: Project Officer (Health and Nutrition)

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: (select only one)

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This position mainly intend to manage and implement Basic Primary Health Care program in Sittwe/Pauktaw townships to ensuring the activities to be effective by monitoring and supervision the field activities in close collaboration with field based staffs.

Provide Newborn care program to mothers and baby following birth to seek and care the possible risk factors that happen to both mothers and newborn babies in the Project area. And also manage Under five sick child care program in community and make sure to refer emergency cases to Partner Organization & clinics.

This programs aim to reduce health risk factors among vulnerable population in targeted communities through WASH, Health and Nutrition in Rakhine State.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to : Project Officer (Health and Nutrition)

Staff reporting to this post: Community Facilitators

Financial Approval: No financial approval

Travel: At least 3 days per week to project areas based on the access situation

Role Dimensions: Regular contact of basic factual information

Key accountabilities

• Overall management of ANC, PNC and newborn care implementation effectively and efficiently in target area

• Assist to Project Officer in activities planning, workplanning, budget calculation, with supportive ideas and experiences

• Supervise and closely monitor camp based staffs and volunteers to conduct BPHC activities continuously Provide technical support to camp based staff with Antenatal, Postnatal, Nutrition in close collaboration with field based staffs.

• Facilitate training such as Newborn care, U5 sick child care to field staffs, Community Health workers to build their capacity for proper program implementation.

• Make sure to conduct SBCC sessions that are Mother leader session, Mother to Mother Support group session, IYCF Care giver Session with the purpose of behavioural chage intervention and do provide supportive supervision

• Supervision on MtMSG and IYCF caregiver SBCC sessions in fields.

• Conduct coordination meeting with Camp Management Committee to raise awareness of Basic Primary Health Care in community.

• Make sure to conduct Referral coordination meeting with Mobile clinic to be smooth referral pathway

• Responsible for stock management (i.e. Clean Delivery Kits, Micronutrient Tablets, etc.) not to be stock out in both field and office warehouse.

• Take a lead for Stock transportation to project areas dealing with logistics team.

• Deal with finance team for advance cash to implement field activities achievely.

• Assist to Project Officer in Nutrition Promotion activities in project area

• Sharing of problems solving ways and lessons studies to colleagues

• Data collection, data checking and data follow up from field staffs, volunteers and make sure the records

• Ensure the documentation of project activities and keep systematically

• Submit Monthly activities report & Monthly stock report to Project Officer

• Any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Any graduates or degree ( More preferrable Health related degree or diploma)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

• Health related diploma or degree i.e, Midwife, Nurse, Community Health etc. (Rakhine Local only)

• At least 1 year experience of Maternatal and Child Care Programs, Nutrition Programs

• Computer Literacy ( Microsoft Packages, Outlook, etc.)

• Proven team management skills & good communication with colleagues

• Experience or willing in working at hard to reach/ remote areas with limited resources

• Respect the local culture, belief and tradition and eager to learn from community.

• Strong commitment and dedication for development of grass root people

• Good team member and willing to work with various type of people

• Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.

Desireable

• Preferable implementation experience in Rakhine context
