The overall aim of the Project is to contribute to improving livelihood opportunities for women and youth in Yemen through jobs creation in heritage rehabilitation and cultural industries. Specific objectives are to support at least 6,000 youth in rehabilitation sector and 2,000 in sustainable cultural entrepreneurship, contribute to social cohesion, peacebuilding and promotion of cultural heritage in Yemen. Employment opportunities will be generated through rehabilitation of historic urban centers in different governorates, and support to small and medium enterprises and CSOs active in various sectors of the cultural and creative industries. By creating jobs in the preservation of cultural heritage and creative industries, the intervention will reach young people and contribute to peacebuilding because young people are societal actors that have the potential and capacities to engage and lead actions that will promote peace and sustainable development in their communities. The promotion of arts and culture throughout the project will play an important role in restoring cultural identity, peacebuilding and recovery, as well as rebuild trust in local communities. The incumbent shall contribute to implementation of activities/projects related to cultural development, culture and creative industries and communication. The incumbent will be based in Doha **MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** ------------------------------------- The incumbent shall contribute to the implementation of the project "Youth Employment through Heritage and Culture in Yemen”. Specifically, the incumbent shall: • Contribute to the establishment, management and monitoring of contracts and relationships with multiple implementing partners covering the range of expertise in the field of creative industries, in compliance with the rules and regulations of UNESCO • Assist the Project Officer for cultural development to plan and coordinate all activities relating to the implementation of the project, according to the established workplan. • Assist in developing relevant project monitoring and evaluation tools and resources to support implementation of the CCI components and capacity-building activities. • Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings, capacity building workshops, steering committee meetings, public and awareness raising events. • Liaise and facilitate consultation between the relevant government authorities in Yemen, CSOs, suppliers, individual experts and local community stakeholders as required and necessary. • Contribute to preparation of relevant employment strategies, collect data and prepare relevant statistics on employment figures • Facilitate information sharing amongst stakeholders and partners, prepare briefings, reports, communication and other relevant documents and materials. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework](https://en.unesco.org/sites/default/files/competency_framework_e.pdf). **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- **Academic qualifications** \- University degree in cultural heritage, archaeology, social or human sciences, journalism, or relevant field. **Years of relevant work experience** \- University degree and minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience or an Advanced University degree combined with at least 2 (two) years of the relevant experience in cultural heritage, culture and creative industries or relevant. \- Work experience in the UN system will be an advantage. **Language requirement** \- Excellent knowledge of English language (both written and spoken). \- Good knowledge of Arabic will be an advantage. **Other Competencies** \- Integrity, reliability and sense of commitment in the execution of duties. \- Excellent coordination and organizational skills. \- Good analytical and problem solving skills. \- Good knowledge of results-based and budget management tools. \- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to draft clearly and concisely. \- Ability to work effectively in a team and to maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural environment. \- Ability to build and maintain partnerships. \- Ability to work under pressure, manage heavy workloads and to meet tight deadlines, paying close attention to detail and quality of work. \- Strong IT skills including good knowledge of standard office software. \- Sensitivity to the local context. \- Knowledge of UNESCOs mission and action in the field of culture will be an asset. **APPLICATION PROCESS** ----------------------- **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
