Result of Service 2. Objective. This consultancy aims to support the implementation of the Mexico’s office PoW and support in providing assistance in activities relevant for the successful implementation of the environmental projects in Mexico.

Responsibilities Responsibilities and activities to be performed by the consultant will include, but are not limited to:

1. Provide administrative and financial support to the projects implemented by Mexico’s Office, working closely with UNEP offices in Nairobi, Paris, Geneva, and Panama as required. 2. Assist in the definition of requisitions for procurement of good and services for project implementation, assist with the preparation of supporting documents. 3. Provide support to project coordinators for monitoring expenditures and allotments, record variations, update budget tables. 4. Support the preparation of recruitment processes according to projects needs and budget availability for projects implemented by UNEP’s Mexico Office. 5. Provide support on monitoring the implementation of projects’ budgets and expenditures and compare with approved budgets; alerts the supervisor of any deviations and prepares adjustments and reports as necessary. 6. Assist in the preparation of inputs related for a wide range of documents such as, periodic reports, briefings, correspondence, budgets, revisions, and other related issues. 7. Assist in the preparation and review of financial proposals for new projects. 8. Assist in the preparation of budget performance submissions and financial reports required by Donors and counterparts. 9. Performs other related administrative duties, as required (e.g., in case is needed travel arrangements; monitoring accounts and prepare supporting documents for payment to vendors and individual contractors for services; organizing and coordinating seminars, conferences and/or translations). 10. Support the organization and logistic of virtual or in-person workshops and meetings, activities and workshops with stakeholders and counterparts related to the participation of UNEP in the implementation of Mexico’s Office Projects and PoW 11. Assist to draft meeting notes, briefings, and internal minutes as required. 12. Prepare, maintain, and update files (electronic and paper) and internal databases; designs and generates a variety of periodic and ad hoc reports, statistical tables, graphic content, and other background materials/notes to facilitate inspection and other reviews 13. Support the negotiations of legal agreements such as MoU, SSFA, ICA, etc. with strategic partners private and public sector, academia and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), for implementation of projects of UNEP Mexico’s PoW , as well as to assist in the preparation of draft and supporting documents. 14. Assist in the follow up with counterparts and implementing partners for monitoring and preparation of reports requested by Regional Office 15. Coordinates extensively with service units and liaises frequently with internal team members to successfully perform the responsibilities 16. Execute other tasks related to Mexico’s Office PoW, as requested by UN Environment Programme Mexico.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Purpose.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. Its mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action.

The UNEP Latin America and the Caribbean Office (LAC Office), located in Panama City, works closely with the 33 countries of the region and its activities are integrated into the Medium-Term Strategy and the Programme of Work approved by the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA).

UNEP Mexico collaborates with the Mexican government and other stakeholders in areas ranging from low carbon and resilient growth, resources efficiency, environmental assessments, to projects on ecosystems and climate change, and supports the country in its transition to a low carbon and green economy.

In this extent, UNEP Mexico Office needs this consultancy to support the implementation of activities of environmental projects of the Mexico’s Office Programme of Work (PoW), on Plastics, Marine Litter and Waste Management, SDGs Implementation in Mexico, Climate Change, Biodiversity and Environmental Governance among others. Funded by different funding partners e.g. World Economic Forum, the Norway Funds or SDG Funds among others.

These projects aim to develop policies, regulations and tools to strengthen Mexican regulations and policies in topics such as the reinforcement of biodiversity, the country’s resilience to environmental and climate risks, the promotion of environmental awareness.

The Consultant will be supervised by the UNEP Mexico Representative Officer in Mexico City and will work 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, full time at UNEP Mexico’s Office located in Mexico City, Mexico.

Qualifications/special skills ACADEMIC: University Degree (Bachelor’s) in Economics, International Relations, Finance, Accountancy, Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, o related fields is required.

Languages Fluency in Spanish is required. Confident knowledge of English or any other UN Language will be an advantage.
