Organizational Setting

FAO implements the project “Sustainable Production and Utilization of Agro-natural Resources (SPUAR) Initiative in Ma`an Govern”, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. FAO Jordan is looking for a National Project Coordinator to support the implementation of project activities in Jordan.

Reporting Lines

The Project Assistant will work Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and direct supervision of the Project Manager.

Technical Focus

Support in effective implementation of the project, using effectively the resources and inputs of the project.

Tasks and responsibilities

The Project Assistant will support the implementation of project. More specifically, the Project Assistant will:

• Support the implementation of activities under the assigned project; • Support implementation of activities under the assigned project that are planned in partnership with FAO service providers, government and non-governmental entities (arranged through LoA, MoU or UN to UN Agreement), and assist in preparing LoAs for internal clearance to engage different service providers; • Participate in internal meetings, facilitate information sharing, assist in planning and coordination of internal activities; • Provide technical assistance: Provide technical assistance in areas of expertise; identify needs for short-term technical assistance; develop terms of reference; prepare consulting agreements for consultants, facilitates work; provide oversight of short-term consultancies; • Contribute towards coordination of office support services towards meetings, trainings, seminars, committees, and special projects and events; attend meetings, prepare minutes, monitor follow-up activities; make arrangements for formal editing, translation, etc., of documents and publications; • Establish and maintain cordial working relationships with and amongst project staff, stakeholders, and other relevant sectoral organizations; • Provide assistance in protocol related matters, as required; • Assist in monitoring projects activities cases other for which responsibility is assigned to; • Monitor and maintain relevant information and databases on training, workshops, missions and seminars; • Follow up on a broad variety of administrative and logistical actions necessary for the timely implementation of the project activities including supporting the recruitment actions, supporting the travel requests, arranging the training and workshops, briefing schedules, assist in procurement of equipment, works and services as well as partnership agreements through LoA/MoU etc; • Support organizing meetings including venues, facilities, catering and security clearances and provide administrative and logistics support at these events; • Support acting as disbursing officer for conferences and meetings, ensuring that entitlements are properly accounted for and disbursed; • Performing any other duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in agriculture, agricultural economics, economics, nutrition, food processing, animal health, animal production, development studies or any other related fields; • Minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience in supporting project implementation, preferably in large government or non-government organizations is required; • Working knowledge (level C) of the FAO official language used for communication within the country English and working knowledge of the local language of Arabic is required. • National of Jordan or have a valid residency in Jordan.

Technical/Functional Skills

• Extent and relevance of experience in the project management, preferably in large government or non-government organizations • Demonstrated work experience in report formulation. • Knowledge of Project Cycle Management • Previous working experience with UN projects is an asset • Knowledge and experience of FAO systems and databases, accounting or financial modules and corporate applications is considered an asset. • Analytical and judgment skills, and ability to apply procedures in administration and management; • Good knowledge of the MS Office applications, Internet and office technology equipment.
