This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

The data analyst will support the HIV, hepatitis and STI unit in analyzing and interpreting the available data from the case reporting to develop regional and country profiles and analysis of programme data to optimize service delivery.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Regional Advisor HAS Unit or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV candidate will support the HIV, hepatitis and STI unit in analyzing and interpreting the available data from the case reporting to develop regional and country profiles and analysis of programme data to optimize service delivery.

As an active WHO team member, the UNV shall be committed to the following deliverables:

Output 1: Perform data entry and analyze case-reporting data

• Deliverable 1.1: Enter the back-log of country case-reporting data in the HAS case reporting database • Deliverable 1.2: Liaise with WHO country office focal points for data validation and data cleaning, where necessary • Deliverable 1.3: Analyze results using statistical techniques and interpret data • Deliverable 1.4: Assist HAS team in developing reports, slides and publications based on the analysis

Output 2: Develop regional thematic overviews of progress on HIV, hepatitis and STIs

• Deliverable 2.1: Consolidate existing data on country/regional epidemiology and progress towards HIV, hepatitis and STIs targets including EMR case reporting, global AIDS monitoring (GAM) and global hepatitis reporting • Deliverable 2.2: Develop draft regional thematic profiles including policy and progress on prevention, testing, treatment and EMTCT for HIV, hepatitis and STIs • Deliverable 2.3: Validate draft profiles with country focal points and counterparts and incorporate feedback • Deliverable 2.4: Develop final profiles and accompanying slide sets

Output 3: Conduct analyses of programme data to support member states in optimizing their testing and treatment approaches, upon request

• Deliverable 3.1: Develop protocols and SOPs for data analysis • Deliverable 3.2: Collect, consolidate, clean and analyze programme data • Deliverable 3.3: Develop draft reports and seek feedback from relevant stakeholders • Deliverable 3.4: Develop final report and accompanying slide sets • Deliverable 3.5: Disseminate the findings

Output 4: Assist HAS team in monitoring the HIV outbreak in Larkana, Pakistan

• Deliverable 4.1: Collect programme data related to Larkana HIV outbreak regularly • Deliverable 4.2: Analyze and interpret the data • Deliverable 4.3: Prepare summary reports and accompanying slides for dissemination

Output 5: Any other tasks requested by the Regional Advisor

• Deliverable 5.1: Contribute to activities in HIV, hepatitis and STIs and other related activities in DCD as and when needed

health data management. • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in data management, data analytics or statistics is required • Desirable: Experience in analyzing communicable disease data • Desirable: A degree in public health or epidemiology • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel
