You have:
- Demonstrated interest in international development, international relations, economics, project management or any relevant discipline.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
- Experience in data collection, surveys, and primary analysis.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and other data analysis tools.
- Ability to assist and prepare reports, presentation materials, and other relevant documentation.
- Experience in organizing virtual workshops, meetings, conferences, and other events.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Candidates with 0 to 3 years of experience will be considered.
Contract
This is a UNV International Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Youth contracts.
FAO Kazakhstan office is involved in various projects aimed at enhancing food security and agricultural sustainability. These projects encompass a wide range of activities focused on improving agricultural practices, promoting sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, and ensuring environmental sustainability. The office collaborates with local communities, government agencies, and international partners to implement innovative solutions and best practices in agriculture. These initiatives include providing technical assistance, conducting research, and developing policies to support sustainable development. FAO Kazakhstan also focuses on capacity building and training programs to empower farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to improve productivity and resilience. Additionally, the office is committed to supporting rural development and improving the livelihoods of vulnerable populations. Through these efforts, FAO Kazakhstan contributes to achieving food security, reducing poverty, and fostering sustainable economic growth in the region.
Under the direct supervision of OiC of FAO Kazakhstan office and Programme Coordinator the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
• Contribute to the development of programmatic, financial and economic analysis notes, presentation and other documentation for discussion and policy dialogue with national stakeholders and other relevant parties; • Carry out data collection, surveys and primary analysis for ongoing and perspective programs, backstop monitoring and evaluation of program activities, in particular within the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; • Support the FAO Kazakhstan office in preparation of regular reports on activities, outputs and outcomes, e.g Country Annual Report etc. • Support the FAO Kazakhstan office in data and other information entry in corporate databases. E.g. PAID, FPMIS, PIRES, as well as UN INFO (the UN Sustainable Development Group Data Portal), and analyse and summarize data from various sources; • Support other team members and colleagues in budgeting for FAO Kazakhstan activities, including including the possible proposals and programs of FAO-Kazakhstan Partnership Programme; • Provide support in organizing of virtual workshops, meetings, conferences and other events relevant to the work of various projects; • Assist the FAO Kazakhstan office in promoting and implementing the SDG agenda in Kazakhstan; • Assists in editing and formatting presentation materials, reports, analytical reviews, etc. when requested; • Participate in field missions, including provision of substantive program and technical support, data collection, etc if requested; • Perform other related duties as required.

As of September 2024 International UN Youth Volunteers in Kazakhstan receive USD 2066/month as their Volunteer Living Allowance.
