Overview

You have:

  • Experience in social media management and digital content creation for platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with website management and design, preferably with CMS platforms.
  • Proficient in graphic design and visualization, experience with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
  • Self-motivated and capable of meeting tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of communications for development approaches.
  • Experience with engagement monitoring and analytics is an asset.

Contract

Over the past 25 years of cooperation with the government of Kazakhstan, UNDP has implemented up to 200 projects and assisted the country in preparing key national and regional policy documents, institutionalization and capacity building, enhancing efficiency of public institutions, strengthening human right institutions, bridging social inequalities, promoting energy efficiency and protecting the environment. A central element of UNDP’s work is the support to the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) helping Kazakhstan achieve the transition to sustainable development. The purpose of the UNDP Communications team is to set the strategic direction for external communications in order to accurately reflect the main priorities of UNDP Kazakhstan’s work and facilitate awareness, understanding and commitment to its target audiences across Kazakhstan and around the world

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Saltanat Boteu, Communications Associate or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer will:

Social media management and visualization: • Manage UNDP Kazakhstan social media - Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn: a) develop content strategy; b) plan content posting; c) perform regular engagement monitoring and analysis; • Develop and design the social media assets in various formats (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) for greater engagement of the social media audiences; • Undertake social media audit at the end of 2025; • Design infographics, presentations and other corporate material (leaflets, brochures, manuals) disseminated to the Government, partners, donors, public • Identify innovative ways and new communications tools to display / promote the work of UNDP Kazakhstan; • Support the communication team in developing digital content such as videos, photo exhibits, podcasts, etc. to promote key themes (climate change, inequalities, gender equality), major events and key programme results.

Website management:

• Regularly update UNDP Kazakhstan website content based on the corporate requirements in cooperation with the ICT and communication team; • Contribute to the UNDP Kazakhstan website content development and design; • Build the research and publications section on the website as a repository of the knowledge materials produced by UNDP Kazakhstan.

Communication and advocacy materials/capacity building: • Identify innovative opportunities and new communications tools and platforms to display the key work of the UNDP Kazakhstan; • Assist the Communication team with any tasks related to communication and advocacy (producing stories, press releases, speeches, etc.)

• Social media management and digital content creation, including experience in developing strategies and producing multimedia assets for platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn; experience with analytics and engagement monitoring is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organizations. • Website content management and design, preferably with experience in CMS platforms and maintaining knowledge repositories. • Graphic design and visualization, including creating infographics, presentations, and advocacy materials; familiarity with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is desirable. • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong drafting, formulation, and reporting abilities. • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing. • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including government counterparts, grassroots organizations, and youth networks; familiarity with communications for development approaches is an asset. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; capacity to function effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel. • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet; familiarity with office technology and basic database management. • Self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision, and capable of meeting tight deadlines. • Sound security awareness. • Affinity with or interest in communications, media, and advocacy for sustainable development, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN system.
