The position is located in the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe. The core activities of the position will be related to the implementation of the IOC Ocean Literacy activities. The European Commission, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE), has launched the European Ocean Coalition (EU4Ocean) for supporting collective actions in the field of Ocean Literacy in Europe. IOC-UNESCO will support and strengthen the activities of the coalition, building on its Ocean Literacy expertise and networks to contribute to the achievement of the overall objectives of the EU4Ocean coalition. In particular, IOC-UNESCO will mobilize stakeholders, bring visibility to the EU4Ocean coalition, create synergies with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development by encouraging and facilitating links to endorsed Decade programmes, including the IOC-UNESCO-led Ocean Literacy with all Programme, and by encouraging endorsement of initiatives and activities as Ocean Decade Actions. The project will also facilitate access to the UNESCO networks, in particular those related to marine science, sustainability, climate change and education in general. Within this framework, the incumbent shall: **Project management** - Contribute to the implementation of the UN Decade of Ocean Science, in close consultation with the IOC Decade team and the Head of Marine Policy and Regional Coordination section. - Identify opportunities for collaboration, partnerships and networks on ocean literacy, and for projects developed with other UNESCO sectors. - Supervise support staff in preparing and maintaining records for a variety of projects, as well as consultants hired to implement specific tasks related to project implementation. - Liaise with the Finance Officer and Bureau Director for financial management and reporting. - Draft, review and prepare for final submission required progress reports related to the project implementation. - Support the preparation and management of meetings and events related to the overall implementation of the project include ensuring the logistics and technical requirements for both physical and virtual meetings; support the facilitation and chairing of the meetings; prepare agendas and meeting reports; and monitor follow-up actions. **Resource mobilization** - Further resource mobilization and develop alternative funding mechanisms for supporting international and regional projects related to ocean literacy - Leverage relationships and collaboration across the IOC teams, expert teams, building external partnerships and mobilizing resources to increase the depth and reach of activities.
