Background Information - Job-specific

The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society.

The CCAC is the only international body working on integrated climate and clean air solutions to reduce the rate of near-term warming. It focuses on fast action to reduce emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) including methane, black carbon, HFCs and tropospheric ozone. From 2022 to 2030, this CCAC’s work is guided by its 2030 Strategy.

Reporting to the Programme Manager (Monitoring & Evaluation, Communications), the incumbent will be part of the CCAC Secretariat, hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Paris, France.

Functional Responsibilities

Project development ● Support the development of project contracts and implementation plans in consultation with the CCAC project management team and implementing partners

● Assist project managers to structure projects around a results-based approach

● Assist project managers to identify appropriate communication activities for projects

Project monitoring and reporting

● Maintain and update the CCAC’s project monitoring tools to ensure consistent implementation of project activities

● Regularly inform the CCAC team of relevant issues, such as upcoming deadlines and delays

● Respond to logistics and administrative requests when needed

● Support the collection of project reporting data and ensure the accuracy of the information provided

● Prepare analysis documents Communications

● Write and post on the CCAC’s social media channels

● Ensure all events are on the CCAC website (especially project events)

● Support the creation of relevant communications materials, such as news articles, factsheets and infographics

● Prepare analytics reports and track progress against communications objectives

Education/Experience/Language requirements

Education

● A masters degree preferably in communication, journalism, public relations, political science, international relations or a field closely related to climate change is required.

● An undergraduate degree with 2 years of additional experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced degree

Experience

● A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience is required with a masters degree

● Excellent computer skills, in particular Excel and other MS Office applications is required

● Demonstrated experience in developing communications content is desirable

● International experience and knowledge of climate-related projects is desirable

Languages

● Excellent command of English (both oral and written)

● Knowledge of other official UN languages would be an advantage
