Thailand is an upper-middle-income country where rapid development gains are stagnating in the face of demographic pressures from a super-ageing society and slowing economic growth. The country has set an ambition to become a high-income OECD member by 2037, yet persistent inequalities along geographic, socioeconomic, and legal status lines mean children continue to face overlapping deprivations in health, education, and living standards. UNICEF's strategic focus is to leverage its role as a trusted government partner — providing technical assistance, generating child-related data and evidence, and convening public, private, and civil society coalitions — to advocate for the progressive realization of child rights. Central to this is a Knowledge Management vision that goes beyond internal sharing to position UNICEF as a public thought leader on child rights, ensuring evidence and data strategically influence decision-making among institutional and political partners and in the broader public sphere.

Living in Bangkok offers a vibrant, fast-paced urban lifestyle combining high-end modern amenities, exceptional food, and a low cost of living compared to Western cities. It features, however, intense heat/humidity, notorious traffic congestion, and significant seasonal air pollution. Modern condos with pools/gyms are plentiful, and it is a major, affordable, and well-connected hub (ref. FIDI Global alliance). Cost of living is generally affordable and there are a wide range of options for accommodations to fit individual lifestyles. While traffic is quite busy similar to other big cities, using public transport like subway (MRT) and Sky train (BTS) is imperative for managing commuting time. Air quality during the last few months of the year could be poor. Locals are friendly and always welcome visitors.
