How can you make a difference?

Under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor and the technical lead of Child protection Unit, the Programme Child Protection Associate Emergency supports the respective section (s) by carrying out a range of programme support functions to help develop, implement and monitor their country programme, ensuring effective and timely delivery that is consistent with UNICEF rules and regulations. The Programme Child Protection Associate Emergency works in close collaboration with a range of staff in the CO, external partners and agency counterparts in support of programme design and delivery. S/He provides regular feedback on the status of projects through monitoring milestones and advises on improvements to keep activities on track.

The Programme Child Protection Associate Emergency supports a series of tasks related to the consolidation of inputs for the creation, monitoring and reporting of emergency plans - HAC, deployment of actions in territories where UNICEF does not have a Sub-office, training and coaching on child protection issues in emergencies and representation in coordination spaces of traditional structures (ELC) and those derived from Migration (GIFMM).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to child

    rights or child protection and gender issues.

  • A minimum of six years of programme support functions experience is required. At least 3 of them in specific child protection in emergencies projects.
  • Experience on child rights, violence against children and gender approach is considered as an asset.
  • Prior experience in administrative or clerical work is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • For this position, a bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace additional two years.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required. Intermediate level in English is required.

    Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is an asset.
