Contract

This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

This volunteer assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia as part of an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program to enhance youth inclusion, with a focus on the inclusion of young people with disabilities (2024-2026). Therefore, applications from young people with disabilities who meet the required qualifications are strongly encouraged.

The UN Volunteer will support UN Women's initiative in Tunisia, focusing on "Ajyal Egalité" program.

Ajyal Égalité Programme is committed to promoting gender mainstreaming in public policies and raising public awareness in three Maghreb countries—Tunisia, Libya and Morocco. Managed by the French Development Agency (AFD) in partnership with UN Women and Expertise France, the programme will run over a three-year period starting in November 2022. Its actions will focus on combating violence against women, promoting women’s leadership, strengthening civil society, and raising awareness on gender equality through media initiatives.

Project Objective: The initiative aims to advance gender equality in Tunisia, Libya, and Morocco by supporting national and local institutional stakeholders and civil society actors in integrating gender into public policies. • Support national and territorial public policies that address violence against women; • Support public policies that promote women’s participation, empowerment, and leadership at all levels. Objective in Tunisia: • Operationalize the law on violence against women through the implementation of gender-responsive budgeting (GRB); • Promote gender equality in the public administration; • Support the mainstreaming of gender across all public policies.

Under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Provide administrative support to the Ajyal Egalite • Support logistical, administrative arrangements for the organization of meetings, workshops, events, and missions; • Draft minutes in meetings as required; • Assemble briefing materials; • Support in organizing and coordination of filing of documents and maintaining mailing lists (Knowledge management); • Perform any other communication, administrative and logistical duties as requested by the Ajyal Egalite team • Provide administrative support in monitoring and preparation of invoices documents of programmes/projects; • Support in the preparation of PO packages for development projects events as required;

  2. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building/sharing and communication efforts • Proofread English and French translated documents and assist with translation or interpretation as required. • Support the organization of local events under the Ajyal Egalite with a particular focus on logistics. • Support the Communications Assistant to prepare media posts by providing the needed description of events related to programmes.

UN Youth Volunteer gets the following package: • Volunteer Living Allowance (around 1788.53 TND./Month) • Entry Lump-Sum = USD 400 (one-time payment paid in TND) • Comprehensive coverage for health, life and malicious acts for the UN Volunteer only. • Exit allowance (paid on successful completion of the assignment) TND 186.3 for each month served, paid on completion of contract. • Access to UNV E-Campus for training and learning including access to LinkedIn learning.
