Overview

Support food and nutrition assistance for refugees and local communities in Uganda.

You have:

• At least 3 years of experience in humanitarian programming or related fields.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• Ability to perform statistical analysis and reconciliation tasks.
• Experience in report writing and donor proposal drafting.

Contract

In Uganda, WFP provides humanitarian and lifesaving assistance in the forms of food and nutrition assistance to over 1.39m refugees across the 13 refugee settlements in the country, supports smallholder farmer production, market, and value chain activities, undertakes school feeding, as well as livelihood and resilience programmes. Through these programme interventions, WFP responds to both the humanitarian and emergency situations in Uganda to meet the needs of vulnerable people, to save and change their lives, and to promote inclusion and resilience building. As Uganda strives to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 and become a middle-income country by 2040, WFP is also assessing its relevance and repositioning its role in Uganda as a key partner through its partnerships with government and other key stakeholders at various levels.

Support the Crisis Response Unit in the implementation and delivery of food and nutrition assistance to both refugees and vulnerable host population. • Support in strategic programmatic drive implementation within the Crises Response unit Support programme assurance and its implementation processes. • Lead on monthly accountabilities and reconciliations across programme interventions. • Support beneficiary sensitization and awareness creation activities as well as training and capacity building/strengthening for staff and other key stakeholders. • Support pre, in and post monthly distribution activities including monitoring and reporting. • Support resource management ensuring efficient monitoring across various pipeline levels. • Review, compile and analyze program activity data of implementing and cooperating partners, prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, in support of programme implementation. • Support programme implementation across various WFP intervention locations. • Support in donor proposal and report writing as well as unit factsheets and standard reports. • Participate in both internal and external coordination and other required meetings. • Perform any other tasks as may be required.

accountancy/audit and reconciliation related work, humanitarian and development programming, report and project/donor proposal writing, coordination and donor proposals and drafting of donor/end of project reports, consolidating information from different sources, sensitization and awareness creation. • Good Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point and Access skills • Ability to perform Statistical analysis, Accounting and Reconciliation • Programme/Project Management experience especially in developmental and humanitarian programming. • Ability to implement, under guidance, food assistance programmes deploying the full range of transfer modalities with an understanding of basic principles guiding assessments, modality selection and implementation. • Broad Knowledge of Specialized Areas: Understands basic technical concepts and data and their relevance to food assistance programmes. • Excellent analytical and writing skills, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. • Ability to work in a team as well as under tight deadlines and pressure. • Sound security awareness • Have interest in saving and changing lives through provision of food assistance to achieve zero hunger with WFP; volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

The security situation in Kampala is generally safe, but urban areas may experience petty crime. It is advisable to always remain vigilant, especially in crowded places. There is reliable access to clean water and stable electricity supply, and a well-developed healthcare infrastructure with several hospitals and clinics offering both general and specialized care.

Arua has a generally stable security situation, though occasional localized tensions may arise, so staying updated on local news is advisable. Located about 500 km from Kampala, Arua is accessible by road and has a regional airport with limited flights. The cost of living in Arua is relatively low compared to Kampala, making basic goods and services more affordable. Accommodation options, though limited, are improving and include budget guesthouses and mid-range hotels.
