Programme Assistant
Contract

FAO Oman is planning to host the UNV Programme Assistant, who will provide support to the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of FAO programmes, contributing to the achievement of its objectives and outcomes.
Under the supervision of the FAO Representative, the UN Volunteer will perform the following tasks:
1) Coordinate the implementation of planned activities under FAO projects
2) Monitor the project’s timely and effective implementation of the project overall
3) Provide technical inputs to the methodology of capacity development plan and training materials and road mapping
4) Assist in organizing technical workshops and delivering trainings
5) Support in drafting the publication documenting activities and findings of projects
6) Liaise with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and Water Resources MAFWR, and technical divisions within FAO to support project implementation
7) Assist in supporting project operations (including budget monitoring and shadowing, procurement, etc.)
8) Ensure timely delivery of project outputs, including reporting requirements, as established in the work plans

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
Effective written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
Experience in drafting quality reports.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team environment.
Knowledge of the United Nations system and experience with FAO or other international organizations is an added benefit.
Overall security situation in Oman continues to be peaceful. The country is considered one of the most stable nations in a region otherwise marked by turbulence. The country has a low crime rate, violence is uncommon and assaults are rare.
Although Oman is a member of the Gulf Coordination Council (GCC), the living expenses in the country are considered acceptable compared to other neighbouring countries.
