Description of Organization: USAID’s Bureau for Resilience and Food Security (RFS) oversees high-level, integrated efforts: (1) Feed the Future, guided by the Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS), (2) the USAID Multi-Sector Nutrition Strategy, (3) the U.S. Global Water Strategy, (4) the President’s Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE), and (5) efforts to increase resilience in areas of recurrent humanitarian crisis. To deliver on this work, RFS partners with other U.S. Government (USG) Departments and Agencies, USAID Bureaus and Missions, universities, civil society, and other public- and private-sector actors.

Description of Position: The Program Officer (Interagency Affairs Specialist) will be onboarding at a critical time in the midst of a global food security crisis stemming from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, other conflicts, the climate crisis, and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Program Officer (Interagency Affairs Specialist) will support the interagency team on strategic collaboration with the 12 departments and agencies that make up the Feed the Future Initiative, coordinate closely with the Global Engagement team to ensure consistent messaging within the interagency related to multilateral platforms, and track interagency discussions and priorities within the Bureau. The Program Officer (Interagency Affairs Specialist) will also support the interagency team on other coordination needs with other initiatives, including Water for the World, the Global Nutrition Coordination Plan, and the Climate Strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • You must meet the FSL years of experience of requirements to qualify for this position and grade.
  • You must meet the education requirements listed in this FSL qualification standards to qualify for this position.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
