Contract
This is a UNV contract. More about UNV contracts.
In 2021, the Human Rights Council established a new mandate on the promotion and protection of human rights in the context of climate change and it will appoint the Special Rapporteur during its 49th session in March 2022. The Human Rights Council has asked the Special Rapporteur on climate change to coordinate closely with Special Rapporteurs on environment, hazardous substance and waste, and water and sanitation. In order to facilitate such coordination, it is essential to understand what has been discussed at the interactive dialogue held by those mandate-holders at the Human Rights Council.
The UN Volunteer will summarize the interactive dialogues held by three Special Rapporteurs (environment, hazardous waste and water and sanitation) during the Human Rights Council sessions from 2015 - 2022 by reviewing the recordings on UN webTV. Specifically, the relevant sessions are: September HRC sessions in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 (for two mandates: hazardous waste and water and sanitation) and March HRC sessions in 2020 and 2021 (for one mandate: environment). In the summary, the UN Volunteer will take notes of salient points made in the interventions by each State and non-State entity. The UN Volunteer will be asked to provide the summary of two interactive dialogues per week. The interactive dialogues last from 2 to 3 hours and therefore, the estimated time required for this task (total of 12 summaries) will be 4 to 5 hours for each summary. A sample summary of interactive dialogue will be provided.
