Plumber

Result of Service Each Individual Contractor will:

- Read blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials; - Install pipes and fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, for water, steam, air, or other liquids; - Install supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation; - Assemble fittings and valves for installation; - Modify length of pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing materials as needed for a building; - Use saws and pipe cutters as necessary; - Install heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters; - Collaborate with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters, and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing; - Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems; - Analyze problem and identify appropriate tools and materials for repair; - Follow health and safety standards and comply with building codes; - Write report documenting the problem and summary of actions taken; - Perform inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts; - Implement and comply with all health and safety precautions; - Assist the plumber`s team in any other task, as required.

Expected duration The proposed individual contractor will be hired as soon as possible until the 30th of November 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

This locally recruited position is located in the Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support Unit, within the Central Service (CS), at the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy.

The Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support, responsible for the maintenance of UNGSC facilities and infrastructure, is seeking for plumbers.

The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief Campus Support Unit.

UNGSC Campus Support / Buildings Infrastructure is seeking the assistance of Individual Contractors to perform the following works:

- Refurbishment of toilets at Building 232. - Installation of six water pumps at DUPS A, B and C fuel tanks; - Installation of water saving Electronic faucets in 25 toilets; - Installation of water saving solar panel in 6 Buildings.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Valid driving license is required. Academic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of proven experience as plumber in the Engineering Field or related area is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position knowledge of English is required.
