Org. Setting and Reporting The position is located in UNIFIL HQ Medical Section, Naqoura. Reports to the Chief Medical Officer or Designate. The incumbent is responsible for the contribution to the rational use of drugs within the mission area. S/he offers day to day advice on pharmaceutical issues: Assists the senior level Pharmacist by contributing to the facilitation of unimpeded supply of medical supplies by managing inventory (warehousing) and contributing to the distribution of drugs within the Mission.

Responsibilities Data System Roles: Pharmacy Technician undertakes data system (Umoja) roles: - SRM, ECC and uses other supply chain management tools. - The incumbent has role assigned as Warehouse User and Direct Requisitioner and provides input in Supply Chain Management Tools for each medical related PID.

Patient services: - Supply medication and medical related items to UN staff providing adequate expertise and pharmacological explanations on consumption and explanations of drugs warn of risks. - Prepare and distribute individual first aid medical kits to UN staff and provide administrative support in maintaining the records and statistics on the kits."

Inventory and Administration: - Contribute to the sustained supply of drugs, medical supplies, medical consumables, vaccines condoms (male and female) and blood in the mission. - Participate in prepacking of medication in order to improve the service. - Monitor and maintain the inventory of the pharmacy and reorder level. - Provide support in defining specification of drugs, medical consumables and medical equipment. - Prepare the monthly write-off of expired items, such as drugs and medical consumables, in the pharmacy and warehouse and submit a report documenting the write-offs. - Maintain and keep up to date files pertaining to the pharmacy. - Receive and inspect all items delivered to the Medical Section. - Ensure that medicines are arranged on the clean shelves and specific bin locations by therapeutic class and alphabetical order by generic name. - Prepare issue vouchers and package drugs, medical supplies and equipment for onward transfer to mission clinics located in different regions within the mission area. - Support to Senior Level Pharmacist and facilitate an unimpeded supply of drugs, medical supplies, medical consumables, vaccines condoms (male and female) and blood in the Mission and safe storage condition at assigned location. - Prepare reports on the list of drugs and consumables and advise on day-to-day pharmaceutical products. - Monitor and report to Senior Pharmacist/Chief Medical Officer on expiration date of pharmaceutical items ensuring their utilization before expiry. - Ensure that drugs and consumable are placed by therapeutic class and generic name by alphabetical order on regular basis. - Perform other duties as required.

Education High school diploma and Diploma in Pharmaceutical Studies or equivalent are required.

Job - Specific Qualification National Pharmaceutical registration and license are required.

Valid registration or license to practice in a National Professional Regulatory body is required.

Work Experience A minimum of 5 years of continuous and progressively responsible experience in Pharmacy is required.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in Supply Chain Management (planning, procurement, stock inventory, waste management) is desirable.

Proficiency in using any software system of inventory is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
