What will you do in this position?

Under the supervision of the Head Pharmacist, the Pharmacist will assist in coordinating and executing activities related to the management of orders for medical products for 10 health programmes under USAID funded project at the Central Medical Store.

How can you make a difference?

In this position, you will have to:

  • Serve as Essential Drugs Program focal person.

  • Check delivery authorizations.

  • Verify the packing lists generated by mSupply.

  • Supervise the preparation of orders up to the packaging of the products: the report of all anomalies or modifications of quantities must be reported to the Pharmacist.

  • In collaboration with the Warehouse Manager and the warehouse staff, receive international orders and deliveries, identify, and report possible discrepancies between manifests or delivery notes, and store the products according to the SOPs set up to ensure their permanent availability.

  • In collaboration with the warehouse staff, monitoring the regular updating of stock management tools.

  • Participate in regular inventories.

  • Control access restrictions to the warehouse for existing staff and secure doors and other exits.

  • Ensure the proper storage and management of all medical items.

  • Ensure standard procedures are followed to ensure hygiene, pest, and rodent control.

  • Monitor stock levels against alarm thresholds, stock-outs, expiry dates and drugs that are due to expire (e.g., in six months). Prepare reports and forward them to the supervisor.

  • Report expired, missing, damaged, or stolen products.

  • Participate in the electronic archiving of delivery authorizations and GRNs.

  • Assist in the preparation of internal training on good stock management and distribution practices for the team.

  • Be a backup for the Head Pharmacist in case of absence to ensure operations continuity.

  • Any other activities as required by the supervisor/ or project manager.

Education: University Degree in Pharmacy.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position (medical commodities management) or relevant field is required.

  • INGO/NGO experience in developing countries.

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and manage several activities simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.

  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Proven skills in medical logistics.

  • Knowledge of WFP warehouse management procedures and good database skills would be an asset.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
