Overview

Ensure accurate payroll and offboarding processes at UNICEF.

You have:

  • Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Finance and any other related fields.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in payroll, human resources, benefits and entitlements or other related fields is required.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering strong Payroll & Offboarding solution with strong client focus is required.
  • Strong SAP knowledge and practical experience are required.
  • Advance presentation/PowerPoint and Excel skills is needed.
  • Fluency in English and Hungarian is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
  • Work experience with the UN or an international organization is desirable.
  • Work experience in Global Shared/Business Services/Business Support center is desirable.
  • Supervisory experience in leading, developing and maintaining high performing team is desirable.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Contract

How can you make a difference?

The Payroll and Offboarding Officer ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of payroll and People&Culture processes for various pay areas, while safeguarding equity and consistency in the application of UN/UNICEF regulations and rules. The role is accountable for end-to-end payroll operations, including simulations, error resolution, off-cycle runs, retroactive adjustments, and separation payments—as well as the Separation from Service, Pension & Health Insurance Administration including - interpretation and approval of HR entitlements and benefits. In addition, the incumbent provides expert guidance to management and staff on HR policies, supervises team members, delivers training, and drives process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.

Under the direct supervision and overall guidance of the HR Payroll-Offboarding Manager, the incumbent will carry out the following key functions:
