The Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (MSP) team in UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships Division (PFP), leads UNICEF’s engagement with the private sector and public-private initiatives and platforms that are actively shaping business agendas, priorities, and investments. The team is responsible for managing partnerships and leading engagement strategies for partnership development with global, regional, and national platforms that can serve as catalysts and accelerators for the country and regional offices and relevant HQ divisions in reaching, influencing, mobilizing, and partnering with the private sector to achieve better results for children.

Under the guidance of the supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for supporting UNICEF’s engagement in select multi-stakeholder platforms and initiatives involving the private sector, including planning and coordination, within PFP as well as headquarters, regional offices, National Committees, and relevant country offices. The incumbent will significantly focus on supporting managing events intelligence on externally organized events engaging the private sector, including the planning and coordination of meetings to take a strategic approach to leverage key moments for partnerships and advocacy, as well as organizing UNICEF’s and PFP’s engagement in select global events and key moments, along with supporting key projects as per agreed work plan.

How can you make a difference?

1. Partnership building, networking, and engagement:

Identifies and maximizes opportunities for UNICEF engagement in select multi-stakeholder platforms and initiatives involving the private sector, such as the World Economic Forum (WEF), including maintaining an annual event calendar with priority opportunities for engaging, identifying opportunities for UNICEF and partners for advocacy with business and leveraging income and influence for partnership strengthening.

2. Event planning and coordination:

Supports planning and coordination within PFP, across divisions, RO/COs, National Committees, and external organizations (UN agencies and/or multi-stakeholder platforms and initiatives) on UNICEF’s engagement in key global platforms and events related to business. Coordinates briefing notes, talking points, key messages, and other information materials as needed. Organizes UNICEF’s and PFP’s participation in key global moments and events, including side events, panels, and partner collaborations. Manages nomination, invitations, and tracking of partners in global events and coordinate UNICEF’s engagement in key private sector events (e.g., WEF Annual Meeting in Davos, UN Private Sector Forum) and PFP’s engagement in key global moments (e.g., UN General Assembly, COP Climate Conference), as well as for other UN activities and entities to maximize collaboration with the UN and business.

3. Knowledge management and capacity building:

Facilitates knowledge capture and sharing on engagement with key global platforms and initiatives, including maintaining the external private sector events intelligence resource, identifying key moments across the year for engagement, and supporting the regular PFP planning meetings on events intelligence. Shares advocacy and partnership opportunities with National Committees, headquarters, regional and country offices. and makes connections to leverage these opportunities across relevant teams.

4. Technical support:

Captures information on UNICEF’s and private sector partners’ engagement using the UNISON customer relationship management (CRM) database; Maintains the private sector events intelligence site and other SharePoint sites for coordination on key events.

5. Communications:

Provides inputs and develops PowerPoint presentations/content/articles for internal and external audiences. (PFP Newsletter, PFP Intranet pages). Compiles texts and materials for debriefing on the engagements.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Education:

  • A first-level university degree is required in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, business and management sciences, or another relevant technical field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience at the national or international level in private-sector engagement is required.
  • Experience in effectively working with a diverse group of stakeholders and working on complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships involving the private sector, whether within the UN, Government, NGOs, or the private sector, including when it concerns organizing global events is required.
  • Experience in any of the following areas is an asset: children’s rights, private sector in international development, and humanitarian action.
  • Experience working within UNICEF/UN is an asset.

Others:

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with non-financial private sector engagement (i.e., corporate social responsibility, multi-stakeholder partnerships) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent understanding of and knowledge of software such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office; and Salesforce CRM programmes.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:

UNICEF PFP-Geneva is currently reviewing organizational changes; therefore, the exact future location of these posts is still under consideration/to be determined. Candidates may be asked to commence duties remotely. Should the selected candidates be assigned and relocate to Geneva, they may later be asked to relocate and be assigned to another location during the initial contract or assignment period.
