We are looking for a group of Online Volunteers to support exploratory research on the changing nature of work. The objective of the participatory research is to inform UNDP and relevant stakeholders about the emerging trends, signals of change and possible disruptions to how people work, ensure livelihoods and in general engages in meaningful activities. The assignment envisages independent search for sources, signals of change and clustering them in an online tool. Communication with the Accelerator Lab team will be done via a combination of email exchange and Zoom calls. The work is expected to take place in November 2020. We will provide all the needed support including a zoom induction meeting for orientation about the task and expectations, as well as a briefing on the methods. The overall scope of work will be divided between a group of Online Volunteers, who will jointly (under coordination by AccLab) produce a narrative report on the future of work.

In a technology-based society, the nature of work is changing dramatically. We need to rethink the concept of jobs, create a new social contract, and transform education towards faster and lifelong learning. What will be the role of human beings in a world of increasingly capable machines? Will all practical expertise you may need be available online? UNDP Accelerator Lab together with Impact UA are joining forces to analyze the changes with regard to the nature of work, identify connections and patterns of the future of employment, work, management culture, and other domains concerning “future of work”. This work is a part of the regional futures-thinking journey started by UNDP Accelerator Labs in Europe and Central Asia. The results gained by the research group could be valuable for academia, public, private, NGO sectors and media. The Online Volunteers will work independently to seek for “signals of change” and as a group through participatory virtual analysis sessions. They will receive a detailed briefing on the assignment and will be able to maintain close contact with UNDP Accelerator Lab and Impact UA.
