Org. Setting and Reporting The International Trade Centre (ITC) assists developing and transition countries to take advantage of expanding trade opportunities in an increasingly complex global environment. ITC supports ‘Trade Impact for Good’, promoting sustainable and inclusive development goals through trade.

Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) section under Division of Programme Support provides information technology solutions to entire organization. One of such business unit is the Green & Inclusive Value Chains section (GIVC). There are several digital/online solutions and methodologies in this unit for strategic and operational research, assessing national trade performance, trade competitiveness and linkages between trade and development prospects, among which the Trade for Sustainable Development (T4SD) programme.

Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of Chief, IT&S and in close co-operation with business unit Head, T4SD and Chief, SIVC the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Work closely with Chief IT&S, Chief GIVC and Head T4SD and contributes IT-related business initiatives in the GIVC/DSIT section and aligns those IT solutions visions and roadmaps with corporate, section and programs mission and strategy, acts as liaison between management, business stakeholders and a technical IT teams. Performs consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
  • Work closely with different IT teams, external vendors in maximizing the IT investment and aligns work of the business unit with the corporate IT strategy. Project management of all the IT projects of the section, ensuring the solutions are optimized and remains fit for purpose.
  • Proactively leads team of developers working on T4SD projects, project management of various IT solutions, reviews of documentation and reports, identification of problems and issues to be addressed and relevant corrective actions ; and liaison with relevant parties.
  • Researches, analyzes, and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
  • Coordinates policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies,
  • Generates survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identify problems/issues and prepares conclusions.
  • Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.
  • Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
  • Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
  • Leads and/or participates in large, complex field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.
  • Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • TECHNOLOGICAL AWARENESS: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology.

    Education Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field such as international relations. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

    Job - Specific Qualification An industry recognized project management certificate (Prince2, PMI) is desirable.

    Work Experience A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in project or programme management, administration or related area is required

    Experience related to IT setup and leadership, management of multiple projects portfolio related to software development and delivery is desirable.

    Experience in some of the following areas is desirable: trade, environmental and social sustainability, textiles/apparel, agriculture, and supply chain traceability and transparency

    Experience in both structured and agile IT project management methodologies and frameworks is desirable.

    Experience in defining and executing IT solutions roadmaps, strategies, and development plans, involving business and technical audiences, translating high-level business requirements into actionable plans is desirable.

    Experience in adapting to changing technical environment and adapting the business solutions to maximize business benefits is desirable.

    Languages For the position advertised, fluency in English is required.
