Duties and Responsibilities

The International Trade Centre is the joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, which provides technical assistance and capacity building to policymakers, the private sector and trade and investment support organisations to help them use trade as an engine for sustainable growth and employment generation. ITC works to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting micro, small and medium enterprises to global value chains. By enabling small business export success in developing countries, ITC helps generate sustainable incomes and livelihoods, especially for women and youth, while taking into consideration sustainable elements such as the environment and social responsibility. As part of the Belt and Road initiative, China has organized the CIIE annually since 2018. It aims to promote trade, investment and business partnerships between China and other developing countries. As the most significant import fair, CIIE represents a unique platform for MSMEs from developing and LDCs to explore the Chinese market and initiate business contacts with Chinese buyers. ITC has been an “Official Sponsor” of CIIE since 2019. It contributed to the Hongqiao International Economic Forum and organized the participation of 500 SMEs from more than 40 developing countries, especially LDCs in CIIE in 2018, 2019, 2021,2022,2023, 2024 and 2025. As a result, companies established new business contacts and concluded USD 65 million worth of new exports to China. ITC will continue supporting MSMEs from developing countries to attend the fourth CIIE edition to be held in November 2026. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the overall guidance of Chief of OAP and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Manager, the selected candidate is expected to: 1. Assist in providing pre-event support to participating MSMEs, including WeChat registration, exhibition registration etc. 2. Assist in the collection, organization and translation of relevant materials. 3. Assist in the implementation of project activities such as the organization of meetings, trainings, events, etc. 4. Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth implementation of project activities. Qualifications/special skills

Education a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of the first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); OR b) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);OR c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation. In one of the following fields or similar: Economics, International Trade, International Development, Business Administration, or related fields. Skills • Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) is required. • Prior work (study) experience in the area of international trade would be an asset. • Knowledge of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, WorkBuddy, etc) is considered an asset.

Languages

• Advanced knowledge of English is required. • Working knowledge of Chinese is desirable.
