he Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project primarily targets the growth and maturity stage of established entrepreneurs and SMEs in the formal sector, aiming to provide them with support and business growth instruments for expanding their businesses through sustainable and green solutions. This initiative will contribute to economic growth and the creation of green and sustainable jobs.

The learning asset on sustainable innovation and business development is not only relevant to the target companies of the Accelerator but also to other companies, including younger and more established ones outside of the Accelerator program. Additionally, stakeholders such as entrepreneurs, companies affiliated with business schools or universities, existing accelerator or incubator programs, and networks of young innovators and business leaders could benefit from these learning assets.

Project 1 in the Youth Employment Programme could leverage learning assets from the Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator Project, just as assets from project 1 on e-commerce and digital transformation could be relevant to companies in the Accelerator Project. Moreover, the Youth Employment Programme provides basic education, skills training, and specialized vocational and technical training to youth, potentially serving as a talent pool for the SMEs targeted by the Accelerator Project.

The capacity-building efforts in project 1 will focus on skills needed in private companies to drive the green transition, aligning with the Accelerator's goal of developing green business solutions and green jobs for youth. Collaboration between UNDP and the Contractor of project 1 could amplify the reach of digital learning assets on sustainable innovation and business development, digitalization, and e-commerce among local entrepreneurs and SMEs. These assets will be designed in SCORM formats for easy sharing and will be embedded in UNDP's Regional Youth Platform, providing youth with access to knowledge, training opportunities, and funding information.

In the Accelerator Project, youth will be engaged in various ways, including participation in youth-led enterprises, employment opportunities within participating companies, and co-creation of solutions through Youth4Sustainability groups. These groups will collaborate with DAPP Youth Sounding Boards to integrate the project further into DAPP and contribute to building national capacities for sustainable impact beyond the project's end date.

Cairo is a Security Level 3 (Moderate) and category “A” Duty station. Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is among the largest cities not only in Africa and the Middle East but also globally (the 19th largest city across the world). It is also one of the most densely populated cities worldwide with a population in excess of 16 million people. The weather in Cairo is mostly warm or hot with cool nights: a very hot summer May to October and a mild winter November to April. The city is very dry, with an average of about one centimeter of rain a year but can have high humidity levels in summer. Cairo occasionally experiences dust storms brought by the sirocco hot winds characteristic of the country’s climate in April. Cairo (and Egypt) has long been a centre of the region’s political and cultural life, with high levels of tourism. Like other similar cities, Cairo offers good quality life in terms of access to shopping centres, banks, medical services, cultural events, etc.
