Duties and Responsibilities

The internship is located in the Private Sector Unit (PSU) under the Emergency Response Section (ERS), of the OCHA Response Support Branch (RSB), Coordination Division. OCHA’s engagement with potential private sector partners is a critical aspect of OCHA's mission, as it lays the foundation for effective coordination in humanitarian response. The Unit reports to the Chiefs of the Response Support Branch and the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Branch. Under the Unit’s Team Lead, the intern will be responsible for: 1. updating and maintaining a client management system; 2. supporting the successful implementation of events and briefings. 3. developing a focused case study on a topic mutually agreed upon. 4. Conduct research into timely private sector opportunities

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must be a student in the final year of Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Master’s or PH.D. Programme or equivalent. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship. The University degree must be in the area of political science, social science, international studies, public administration, economics, engineering, earth sciences or in a related field. Applicants must have knowledge of Salesforce or other client relationship management database; must be familiar with MailChimp or other mass email service, and with standard software applications especially Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this internship. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is desirable, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
