You have:
- A diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized institution is required.
- A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical and emergency response is required.
- Experience in UN mission administration or with medical facilities in an international setting is desirable.
- Certificates in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Working knowledge of French and Arabic is desirable.

Result of Service
Independent responsibility for planning and implementation of own work plan and that of other nursing staff as delegated by the Chief Medical Officer. Promotion and maintenance of health care in the mission including prevention of health hazards for all staff. Effectively develops staff under his/her supervision, including their on-going learning and development on continued nursing education. Timely preparation of medical budget, procurement of medications /consumables, and ensure all staff are equipped with training for medical updates

Duties and Responsibilities
The position is located in the United Nations for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Laayoune. The incumbent reports to the Chief Medical Officer. Within delegated authority, the International Individual Contractor (IIC) Nurse will be responsible for the following duties: Attend the day-to-day activities at the clinic on a full-time basis and be on-call 24/7 when required. Respond to emergency calls and assist the Medical Officers in providing medical care. Assist/escort in CASEVAC/MEDEVAC operations and provide emergency care during the evacuation when required. Perform rapid diagnostic and screening tests such as ECG, laboratory (ABG, serology and urine dip stick tests), and other tests as required. Assess needs of clients visiting the clinic at the Mission HQ or team sites, provide care/advice accordingly, and facilitate referral to the Medical Officer/Level 2 or 3 hospitals. Maintain and organize the medical clinic for any emergency, identifies and plans for clinics’ required consumables/ supplies and equipment requirements, prepare lists accordingly and check operation readiness of kits/bags and emergency equipment. Assist in the pharmacy, arrangement of the drugs and medical supplies including inventory, monthly consumptions, expired drugs. Assist in providing health education and participate in addressing work environment including hygiene and sanitation, occupational health and other specific health issues. Performs other duties as and when required.

A diploma or degree in nursing from a recognized institution is required. A minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in clinical and emergency response is required. Experience in UN mission administration with knowledge and understanding of relevant UN administrative policies and procedures or experience with medical facilities in an international setting is desirable. Certificates in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent emergency medical care is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the positions advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of French and Arabic is desirable.
