NFI Officer

ROLE PURPOSE:

The NFI Officer will be based primarily in Save the Children's office in Dnipro and will manage the day-to-day implementation of components of Save the Children's NFIs activities in the east area. The NFI Officer will be expected to present SCI at a field level. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that all SCI Shelter activities assigned to him/her are done in accordance with Save the Children’s policies and applicable standards. The NFI Officer will ensure that all aspects of work are undertaken in accordance with Save the Children’s Policies. In the event of an additional humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Programme implementation/management

  • Assist NFI Senior Officer in NFI/shelter needs assessments, collecting data/measurement for assessment
  • Represent and support the NFI Senior Officer and/or Manager in meetings (internal and external).
  • Keep MEAL team updated of accurate work plans
  • Maintain updated trackers of partner stock, and all distributions, including sharing timely activity data on a monthly basis with MEAL
  • Supervise, manage and support staff and volunteers (as described above) in all the process by solving the problems that could occur with beneficiaries and communities.
  • Be responsible for any evaluation and assessment at field level (with partners or internal to SC on NFI or multidisciplinary approach)
  • Organize all relevant travel and movement action as per SCI regulations and in align with security measures
  • In coordination with NFI Senior Officer, organize all required action for distributions such as coordination, assessments, planning…etc.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports and inform Senior Officer and/or PM of bottlenecks and challenges
  • Be ready to respond to enquiries, needs and challenges that arise that are related directly or indirectly to their field of work.
  • Work with CP, Education, WASH and CVA /FSL to integrate activities – including during rapid response

Team management and capacity building

  • Identify staff needs in terms of well-being and capacity building at field level.
  • In collaboration with NFI Senior Officer, support the recruitment of appropriate personnel and volunteers for the NFI Team.
  • In collaboration with Shelter//WASH/NFI Program Manager and Senior Officer, identify capacity building requirements for the NFI Team members. Deliver technical trainings and one-on-one mentoring
  • Supervise and coach all direct reports
  • Ensure NFI Team members use weekly work plans and reports
  • Conduct trainings for relevant local NGOs and partners.

Partnerships management

  • Maintain working partnerships and good communication with representatives of SC NFI partners and programmes;
  • Build and maintain relationships with local municipalities and community leaders;
  • Build and maintain partnership with local NGOs;
  • Schedule and organize meetings with implementing partners to discuss progress and challenges.

External relationships/Representation

  • Represent SC at regional cluster/coordination meetings (e.g. Distribution, NFI, etc) and other meetings and forums and take leading role to strengthen shelter aspects related to child protection and education.
  • Ensure that programme interventions continue to be informed by and integrated with other core sectors of SC, such as protection, education, and food security & livelihoods.
  • Ensure activities are developed in partnership with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders, including local partners (where present) and aim to establish/strengthen processes and mechanisms at local, district, and national levels. Promote the participation of children in all aspects of the response where possible and appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of case studies for the purpose of reporting, advocacy and media efforts.

General

  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
  • Perform such other responsibilities as agreed with your line management.

QUALIFICATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or any relevant
  • Social work or similar relevant field
  • Ability to write weekly and monthly report
  • Well organized;
  • Commitment to and understanding of SC aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Essential

  • Extended work experience (2 years’ experience minimum)
  • Experience in project management and Distributions
  • Experience in an international and local NGOs (especially during the emergency phase)
  • Knowledge of oral and written English
  • Computer knowledge (proficient in word and excel)
  • Experience in the social/humanitarian field
  • Experience in community mobilization and conducting outreach activities
  • Ability to maintain consistent high standards of professional behavior and achievement when working independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to manage stress and pressure

Desirable

  • Ability to take initiative where appropriate to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work;
  • Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organisation itself;
  • Excellent contact and diplomacy to manage relationship in tensed situation
