Overview

Support UNICEF WASH Programme through monitoring and quality assurance

You have:

• Master’s degree in WASH engineering or other relevant technical area.
• At least five years of post-qualification professional work experience in quality assurance and reporting of WASH related construction projects.
• Experience in implementing and monitoring WASH in school and health care facility with UN agency is an asset.
• Knowledge of WASH sector and renewable energy (solar energy).
• Fluency in English and Khmer.
• Excellent and proven experience in dealing with contractors and local partners.
• Computer skill in word processing, spreadsheets, database management.

How can you make a difference?

The purpose of this consultancy is to support UNICEF WASH Programme for the coordination, monitoring, quality assurance, documentation, and certification of CR WASH in institutions and communities, solar and construction works. This consultancy will be particularly focusing on the quality assurance required for the works the WASH section has planned to implement, including some additional field support for the water quality component of CSES 2025 as well as the Menstrual Health and Hygiene interventions. Further details are elaborated in the following sections of this TOR.

• At least five years of post-qualification professional work experience in quality assurance and reporting of WASH related construction projects, including with installation of solar energy system
• Have previous experience in implementing and monitoring WASH in school and health care facility with UN agency, is an asset.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

• Knowledge of WASH sector and renewable energy (solar energy)
• Excellent and proven experience in dealing with contractors and local partners
• Computer skill in word processing, spreadsheets, database management
• Fluency in English and Khmer

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
