Organizational Setting

The FAO-GEF (International Waters) project “Enabling transboundary cooperation for sustainable management Indonesian Seas (ISLME)” aims to strengthen regional cooperation and to support the effective and sustainable management of the ISLME region. The project will assist Indonesia and Timor-Leste in addressing transboundary concerns and in resorting and sustaining coastal and marine fish stocks, biodiversity and dependent livelihoods. The project will develop collaboratively a Strategic Action Programme (SAP), based on a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA), strengthen capacity in natural resource management, regional coordination and information sharing. In Indonesia the project is led by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) and the management of activities supported by a National Project Officer (NPO).

The project aims to recruit a National Project Assistant (NPA) to generally assist and provide support to the National Project Officer (NPO) in the management and implementation of national level activities in Indonesia, in particular preparation and writing-up reports (English and Bahasa versions) and relevant documentation.

Reporting Lines

The ISLME National Technical Assistant -Indonesia will work under the overall supervision of the ISLME Regional Project Coordinator and work under the direct supervision of the ISLME NPO. Furthermore, the National Project Assistant -Indonesia will work in close coordination with the staff of the National Project Coordinator (NPC) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF). The National Project Assistant -Indonesia will generally assist and support for the delivery of the ISLME project activities at national and site levels.

Technical Focus

Reporting and Documentation. General Project Management Assistance in ISLME project national activities in specific and if needed some support to regional activities.

Tasks and responsibilities

Specifically, the National Project Assistant -Indonesia will carry out the following tasks: • Assist the NPO to prepare and writing-up any project reports including minutes, report activities, policy briefs, and any relevant documentation, and consolidated time schedule for project activities, • Provide technical support to the NPO on the implementation of the activities including on monitoring of the implementation by partners and reporting on progress and achievement of the partners against the set deliverables or scope of works, • Provide support to the NPO on organizing the achieved project outputs including those produced by partners • Undertake other related tasks that may be assigned.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• University degree in fisheries, marine aquaculture, natural resource management, or related technical disciplines. • At least 5 years of demonstrable experience in project management in particularly report writing and preparation. • Approved English proficiency, especially written English. • Nationality of Indonesia.

• Extent and relevance of experience in environmental issues affecting coastal and marine resources. • Experience in working with regional fisheries bodies/agencies. • Experience in the administration and management of complex programmes. • Demonstrated strong technical and advisory and communication, team building, computer and report writing skills • Skills in report layout is preferable
