OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The program aims to support the Ministry of Health and other key national Stakeholders in health care to improve service delivery by focusing on patient safety and quality of care initiatives during health emergencies and pandemics. The pandemic has highlighted the significant risk of preventable injury to patients, health care professionals, and the public and has identified a range of safety gaps across all core components of health systems at all levels. Impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic did have on patient safety in terms of risks and avoidable harm, specifically in terms of diagnostic, treatment, and care management-related issues as well as highlight the main patterns of these implications within the broader health system context. Working with the health workforce, in a standardized manner and according to norms, would ensure that what WHO will put in place unifies across the fragmentation and has the support of the whole societal and governmental approach.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

1. Ensure that the standards and systems used to deliver quality and accountable services and monitoring reports include information on levels of compliance achieved against standards and indicators for the WHO-USAID Supporting Urgent Needs of Egypt's COVID-19 Response Activity project. 2. Provide technical support for the development of a national Patient Safety Plan in the context of pandemics 3. Develop assessment measures to gauge project service delivery and take innovative measures to improve service efficiencies and effectiveness. 4. Provide technical expertise and support to national health authorities in the field of patient safety, health care quality, infection control, and injection safety aspects with a focus on healthcare-associated infections and Surgical safety. 5. Support national authorities in conducting research activities related to the areas of work. 6. Collaborate with other colleagues at WCO to conduct events, workshops, training sessions, and meetings, producing and disseminating of educational materials related to patient safety. 7. Ensure proper and timely handling and monitoring of consultants' briefing, agenda, facilitation of the missions, evaluation, and follow-up on recommendations. 8. Proactively participate in resource mobilization activities and in developing project proposals reflecting health priorities in the country, ensuring the needed follow-up in terms of fundsraising, effort, timely implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Medicine or public health Desirable: Master's degree in Public Health, epidemiology, infection control, clinical pathology, or health care quality.

Experience

Essential: At least 2 years of relevant experience, at the national level, in one or more of the related domains; patient safety, health care quality, Infection prevention and control, and injection safety. Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system or an international organization

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledgeof public health, communicable disease control, analyzing data, concise reporting, and surveillance of communicable diseases.
  • Proven skills in the development, implementation, and analysis of national strategies, surveillance projects and activities, including budget programming and control.
  • Ability to write reports, oral presentations, and technical and advocacy documents.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at EGP 809,122 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
