Organizational Setting

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations. With presently 194 member states, FAO works in more than 130 countries worldwide, including Vietnam where the Organization has operated since 1978. The current Country Programming Framework (CPF) for the period of 2022 2025 has four priority areas: (1) One Health (OH); (2) Climate change response, environment and natural resources management; (3) Food safety, sustainable production and consumption, and equitable livelihoods for all; and (4) Governance, Gender and PWDs. The incumbent’s tasks will mainly contribute to the first priority area.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Viet Nam, the direct supervision of the International Senior Technical Coordinator of Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Disease (ECTAD), and in close coordination with FAO ECTAD team including national consultant(s) and government partners to contribute to the successful implementation of FAO projects in the country by undertaking the following tasks and duties:

Technical Focus

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Support and assist the Senior Technical Coordinator to deliver national ECTAD program in Viet Nam;

• Coordinating the implementation of FAO project activities in Viet Nam including activities to support government of Viet Nam on:

  1. The implementation and monitoring of the national action plan on Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and Antimicrobial use (AMU)

  2. AMR surveillance and AMR surveillance capacity development and network

  3. The implementation of prescription regulations and animal diseases treatment guidelines

  4. AMR awareness raising and community engagement

  5. Participation in regional and global AMR events

• Maintaining regular communication and coordination with AMR stakeholders in Viet Nam and FAO AMR team at regional and global levels;

• Develop scientific conference posters, presentations and manuscripts for publication;

• Provide technical inputs to reports, events, and support field missions;

• Facilitate and support inter-sectoral collaboration and social-behaviour change communication; and

• Perform other related duties as required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• Advanced university degree in veterinary medicine, veterinary science, animal science or related field

• At least 7 years of relevant experience in antimicrobial resistance, including surveillance, prevention/control management and One Health approach

• Woking knowledge of English

• National of Vietnam

• Excellent computer skills: knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and email/internet software.
