Result of Service ¿ Multimedia developed for communication materials related to anti-racism, diversity & inclusion in the workplace to increase awareness among staff members and create common communications to enhance tolerance and understanding and publicize the work of the Organization on antiracism and anti-discrimination. ¿ Multilingual videos developed for outreach and high-visibility. ¿ Design and maintenance of a user-friendly website structure.

Duties and Responsibilities Background

Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationships: This individual contract is located in the Anti-racism Team (ART) in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Management Strategy, Policy, and Compliance. ART is responsible for high-level oversight, coordination, monitoring, advocacy, and mainstreaming of the Strategic Action Plan implementation efforts in all departments and offices.

The Secretary-General is committed to zero tolerance and organizational action to address racism and racial discrimination and the equal treatment and full inclusion of all United Nations personnel in the work of the Organization. He has therefore launched a Strategic Action Plan on Addressing Racism and Promoting Dignity for All in the United Nations Secretariat (hereafter the "strategic action plan") to tackle this abhorrent behaviour.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Communications and Engagement Officer the Multimedia Individual Contractor will be responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities Multimedia ¿ Take photos, film, and edit video footage to produce high-quality and visually compelling multimedia products for digital platforms. Adapt and format digital content such as image files and video editing. ¿ Support the filming of events and editing video footage to produce high-quality and visually compelling videos and photos; assist with filming and editing images of senior officials. Take part in relevant meetings and interact with delegations and staff from various parts of the office. ¿ Design and produce quality visual material using relevant computer software, e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere, and others, in the appropriate format, ensuring photos and videos are suitable and conform to UN standards. ¿ Maintain repository and high-resolution files of final multimedia products. ¿ Support planning, scheduling, and tracking of projects related to multimedia. ¿ Identify issues and trends in digital media and advise on appropriate action/responses.

Website ¿ Support creative ideas for the ART website (internal and external) with SAP implementing partners to publicize the work of the Organization on antiracism and anti-discrimination. ¿ Enhance the design of the antiracism website and support the SharePoint site. ¿ Maintain the appearance of the Antiracism website by enforcing content standards per DGC guidelines. ¿ In collaboration with the Graphic Designer, design visual imagery for the Antiracism website and ensure they align w/ DGC branding standards. ¿ Communicate design ideas using user flows, process flows, site maps, and wireframes for consideration by the Communication and Engagement Officer. ¿ Prepare design plans and present a user-friendly website structure for the Communication and Engagement Officer’s consideration.

Qualifications/special skills High School Diploma, Diploma in Communications, Multimedia tools, International Relations, or a related field is required. ¿ A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in audio, video, and photography production is required. ¿ Experience in shooting and editing extended and short-form video packages for media or international organizations is required. ¿ Experience in animations is desirable. ¿ Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and other Creative Suite software is required. ¿ Experience in photography on DSLR cameras is required. ¿ Experience in maintain a website is required. ¿ Experience working with the UN or similar international organizations is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this consultancy posting, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
