This position is posted for UNDP Libya, but the assigned IUNV will operate from Tunis to carry out their duties, with periodic trips to Tripoli, Libya based on the project's requirements and activities.

Living in Tunis, Tunisia offers a blend of safety and cultural richness. Generally safe for expats, it's wise to stay aware of occasional protests and minor theft in busy areas. The Tunis-Carthage Airport connects well internationally, and getting around locally is easy with taxis and buses. The weather swings from scorching summers, often above 30°C, to mild, wet winters due to the Mediterranean climate. Respecting local customs, especially in dress, shows appreciation for modesty, especially in conservative neighbourhoods. While you can find places to enjoy alcohol, it's mainly limited to specific spots. The cost of living in Tunis leans toward the affordable side, but expenses vary based on your lifestyle and housing choices.

You've got a range of housing options, from apartments to houses, each with its amenities and costs. Food and water are usually accessible, though tap water might not always be drinkable. Electricity is mostly reliable, but occasional blackouts can occur. There are both public and private healthcare facilities, yet having solid health insurance covering potential evacuations is a smart move. Banking services are well-established, including local and international banks. The city prides itself on a robust communications infrastructure, ensuring good internet connectivity and comprehensive mobile network coverage.
