Job Description

TITLE: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Intern LOCATION: 100% Remote START DATE: DURATION: 4 Months; 10-12 Hours Per Week

BACKGROUND: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Domestically, our 28 offices across the US ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: This internship is an excellent opportunity for a current graduate/undergraduate student to gain exposure to the operations of a large international organization while applying Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) concepts, processes, and tools to measure the project success in a practical way.

Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with the MEAL Coordinator and program team in reviewing and regularly updating activity catalogue; Participate in creating MEAL plans, including logframe and Performance Monitoring Plans for IRC programming; Assist in developing and revising data collection tools; Assist in data analysis as needed; Support in tracking ETO (Efforts to Outcomes) account access; Support in pulling reports from ETO upon request from program staff, and removing duplicate data in ETO; Participate in internal and external MEAL meetings and trainings; and Other duties as assigned.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Student will gain experience in planning and execution of MEAL activities which are critical for project success; Student will gain understanding of Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) database; and Student will develop an in-depth understanding of IRC Resettlement, Asylum, & Integration programming.

REQUIREMENTS:

Currently enrolled graduate student or undergraduate student in a related field of International Relations/Development, Social Work, Global Human resources, Learning and Development; Non-Profit Management, International Business, or related field;

Good understanding of qualitative and quantitative data analysis and data management; Strong writing skills; Excellent organization skills, strong communication, and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively; Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Willingness to work on different types of tasks and projects; English fluency required; and Experience with PowerBi and other MEAL related software is a plus.
