Result of Service ¿ Presenting the research results at conferences and symposia. ¿ Increasing and enhancing staff skills and knowledge in MHPSS ¿ Strengthening staff well-being.

Expected duration The ISP contract will be 11 months.

Duties and Responsibilities ¿ Develop a research paper on "the Suitability of Concepts for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Areas of War and Crisis – mhGAP in the Gaza Strip” including assisting the research team with the in-data analysis, writing of the research paper for publishing, editing after team internal feedback and feedback from publishing journal. ¿ Lead the publication process, contact, coordination, and communication with publishing journal institute. ¿ Presentation of research results at conferences/ symposia. ¿ Work closely with UNRWA programmes in Gaza to support the needs assessment for mental health issues, offer technical assistance and guidance to UNRWA's Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) program, and tailor UNRWA's response interventions accordingly. This includes interviews with beneficiaries and other stakeholders as well as observation and evaluation of ongoing services. ¿ Conduct a thorough assessment and evaluation of the current practices and protocols of the MHPSS program and provide actionable recommendations for enhancement. ¿ Support in delivering refresher training programs for UNRWA staff and partners to improve their skills and knowledge in MHPSS. ¿ Develop appropriate tools for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the MHPSS program in Gaza. ¿ Support ongoing GFO efforts in raising awareness around mental health issues, and representing GFO in inter-agency discussions with other relevant actors including donors. ¿ Conduct needs assessment and design a suitable and feasible intervention to strengthen staff well-being. ¿ Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Academic requirements: An advanced university (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution in Mental Health or a related field.

Experience: - At least five years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in mental health utilizing professional skills relevant to the responsibilities of this post of which two years should be outside the candidate home country is required. - Knowledge of the Middle East context and Palestine refugee issues is desirable.
