Call for Emergency Employment - MEAL Assistant

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for emergency employee as MEAL Assistant.

About the Job

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Assistant will provide technical support to all MEAL activities in the projects. The Officer will collaborate closely with the Country MEAL Manager and Area Programme teams to ensure compliance with DRC MEAL requirements and best practices and Core Humanitarian Standards.

Duties and Responsibilities****:

  • Supporting the MEAL team, ensure full compliance with DRC’s Minimum Monitoring Evaluation, Accountability and Learning Standards in all projects implemented by the Area Office.
  • Support the implementation of MEAL plans and Detailed Implementation Plans (DIP) and support the population of DRC’s Performance Monitoring Tracker (PMT), which will be used by the program and MEAL teams to provide monthly updates and analysis of progress against indicators.
  • In close collaboration with the MEAL team and Area Programme Teams, support the use of data collection tools and the collection, storage and analysis of data. Oversee data collectors when required. The position will ensure the timeliness and quality of data collection, and ensure all captured data is managed according to protection information management standards and best practices.
  • Support rapid emergency beneficiary verification and post-distribution monitoring, assist programme teams in conducting needs and contextual assessments and analyses.
  • In collaboration with the Country MEAL Manager, support the implementation of the DRC Beneficiary Feedback and Response Mechanism, and all associated tools and SOPs, in the Area Office, ensuring that beneficiaries of emergency interventions have access to feedback and complaints channels and that feedback and complaints are logged and resolved in a timely and compliant manner.
  • In coordination with MEAL colleagues, produce monthly analysis reports with updates on the implementation status of all assigned projects. This will entail flagging areas of concern, developing recommendations for corrective actions to share with the Area Manager, implementing teams, MEAL officer and MEAL Manager, and documenting lessons learned.
  • In collaboration with the MEAL colleagues, support the facilitation of field-level learning events to capture, document and disseminate lessons learned for internal and external purposes.
  • Support internal project evaluations with an eye to ensuring means of verification are documented and reflect data reported by the implementing teams in coordination with MEAL officer and MEAL manager.
  • Identify MEAL-related capacity building needs and opportunities for DRC’s program staff in the Area Office assume responsibility for facilitating trainings on Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), and beneficiary feedback and response mechanisms.
  • Provide support in preparing and reviewing reports and verifying consistency between collected data, means of verification, the PMT and donor reports.
  • Prepare data in a visual manner to present to programme teams, such as dashboards Power Bi.
  • Aggregate data in accessible formats for presentation to programme teams

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have a relevant university degree/Diploma in economics, statistics, social sciences, community development and mobilization, international relations or another relevant field.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 years of experience within the humanitarian or NGO field, ideally in MEAL role or data role.
  • Understanding of log frames and results frameworks, monitoring plans, developing data collection tools and protocols, leading data collection and management process, designing and managing databases, and analyzing data.
  • Proven understanding of monitoring and evaluation and experience with both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and report writing skills.
  • Experience using software applications such as Kobo Toolbox, Excel, Access, or statistics software such as Power Bi.
  • Previous experience with electronic or mobile data collection
  • Fluent Turkish or Arabic
  • Verbal and written English

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals.
