Founded in 1933, the IRC is a leading nonsectarian, voluntary organization providing relief, protection and resettlement services for refugees and victims of oppression or violent conflict. One aspect of the IRC is to provide assistance to refugees resettling in the United States. The IRC opened a Denver office in 2016 to provide reception and placement services to newly arrived refugees. The office is slated to resettle approximately 200-250 refugees per year and provides wraparound program services that assist refugees, asylees, Cuban and Haitian entrants, victims of trafficking, survivors of torture, asylum seekers, and other immigrant populations. The IRC in Denver's service approach is client-centered, empowerment-focused, trauma-informed, and multigenerational.

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Health Program Coordinator, the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Program Specialist will be responsible for implementing culturally appropriate interventions to improve health outcomes for refugee mothers and children.

Major Responsibilities:

- Develop and update Maternal and Child Health program curricula. - Research and develop Maternal and Child Health program strategies. - Track outcomes, analyze data, and provide recommendations for program improvement. - Conduct outreach. Maintain and cultivate partnerships. - Train and supervise 1-2 Maternal and Child Health Interns per semester and program volunteers. - Maintain pregnancy and proof of pregnancy tracking with Health and Public Benefits teams. - Coordinate pre-natal/post-partum care and education. - Coordinate new-born appointments and follow up. - Facilitate WIC orientations or re-connect families to WIC as needed. - Coordinate and distribute WeeCycle donations to clients, including car seats and conducting education on proper use. - Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency. - Participate in all Health program meetings and staff development activities. - Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- Undergraduate degree in Public Health, Health Promotion or Social Work preferred. - Experience in health education/administration; preferably with diverse/refugee population. - Experience in maternal health programming preferred. - Familiar with Medicaid, US health care system, and refugee health needs/issues strongly preferred. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment and with limited-English speakers. - Demonstrated ability to work individually as well as a team member. - Strong computer skill with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook); database experience a plus. - Well-organized with proven ability to prioritize duties and manage time effectively. - Commitment to the IRC mission and core values. - Valid driver’s license, current insurance and access to reliable transportation required.

Working Environment

- A combination of standard office environment and remote work. - Staff are required to adhere to IRC’s COVID risk mitigation policies, which may include masking, physical distancing, enhanced hygiene practices, symptom screening, and isolation and quarantine when needed. IRC policies may be stricter than federal, state, or local level policies.

Compensation and Benefits: This is a part-time, 20 hours per week, regular position classified as a non-exempt and eligible for overtime under state and federal law. Starting compensation range is $21.00- $24.00/hour per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive and highly competitive set of benefits.
