Expected duration The proposed individual contractor will be hired as soon as possible for 6 months.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs.

This locally recruited position is in the Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support Unit, within the Central Service (CS), at the UNGSC, Brindisi, Italy.

The incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief Campus Support Unit.

The Infrastructure Cell of Campus Support, responsible for the maintenance of UNGSC facilities and infrastructure, is seeking for qualified masons to perform the following works:

- Removal of plaster, plastering and painting walls, installation of gypsum board with metal profiles at Bldg 254 Basement/Archive, Bldg 135, Bldg 232 and 94; - Repairing plaster and painting of roofs of all Electrical Cabins (3Mw-268-269-1.2Mw-144A-144B-Substation-118); - Repairing and Touch up paint at Bldg 16, Bldg B and 92.

Each Individual Contractor will:

- Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.; - Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster); - Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture; - Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools; - Install gypsum panels; - Mix mortar, lay tiles and stones and/or concrete sidewalks; - Make and repair steps; - Patch and/or replace brick; - Install and repair tile floors and/or walls; - Read blueprints; - Do carpentry work incidental to masonry work; - Pick up requisitioned tools and materials; - Make on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.; - Implement and comply with all health and safety precautions; - Assist the mason's team in any other task, as required.

Qualifications/special skills Skills: Valid driving license is required. Academic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of working experience as mason, gypsum panels installer or painter in Engineering Field or related area is required. Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position knowledge of English is required.
