Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is looking for two online volunteers who have a background in the field of forestry, hydrology, meteorology, climate change, remote sensing, and/or GIS. The candidates should have strong writing skills and a sincere interest in the aforementioned topics. Selected volunteers would be expected to conduct rigorous literature reviews under the guidance of field experts and in parallel contribute towards manuscript writing in a timely manner. The final product will be a review article in a research journal and based on the level of contributions, the online volunteers would be acknowledged (with a certificate) and/or invited to be a co-author.

  Morobe Development Foundation Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Papua New Guinea and was established to promote sustainable community development initiatives and thereby address several exigent issues – ranging from environmental conservation to women rights – that are hindering the progress of the country. Few of our ongoing projects focus on applications of various remote sensing technologies for monitoring forest biomass, tracking land use land change patterns, evaluating climate change impacts and conserving sea turtle habitats. We are currently looking for two online volunteers who can help us with literature survey and manuscript writing (approximately 10-15 hours per week) regarding the topic “climate change mitigation and adaptation through remote sensing of forest-water nexus”.

• 11-20 hours per week / 12 weeks

  The ideal candidates should have demonstrated writing/publication experience and have a Master’s degree or equivalent (e.g. bachelor degree with 3+ years) in an area related to forestry, hydrology, meteorology, climate change, remote sensing or GIS.
