You have:

  • Completion of secondary school education plus a post-secondary certificate in transport economics, logistics, port and shipping, procurement, and administration.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in transportation and ancillary sectors.
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somali is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and commodity handling practices.
  • Ability to work with different cultures.

What will you do?

  • Provide support to logistics operations following standard processes and facilitating, directly or indirectly, the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Prepare transporter allocations and requests for Transport Purchase Order (TPOs) against valid contractors for monthly local dispatches.
  • Issue time-bound Stock Transfer Order (STOs for cargo being shunted ex-port to Mogadishu warehouses and inter warehouse transfers.
  • Work closely with operations to ensure Stock Transfer Order (STOs) are loaded on time, all waybills issued at warehouse level have vehicle tracking numbers and follow up on delivery status with the transporters and timely return of waybills.
  • Prepare daily dispatch report showing the plan for the month, Food Release Note (FRNs) issued by Programme, Stock Transfer Order (STOs) issued by Logistics, and actual dispatch/deliveries to Final Destination Point (FDPs).
  • Issue manual Landslide Manual (LTI’s) for non-food commodities and offline stocks as required.
  • Support management of logistics vendors contracting activities including performance monitoring and measurement.
  • Assist in the management of commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  • Support operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and operational planning for all delivery modalities.
  • Provide guidance to other support staff,in order to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in transport economics, logistics, port and shipping, procurement, and administration.

Experience: Five years of progressively responsible experience in one or more areas of the transportation and ancillary sectors: port operations, shipping, clearing, and forwarding, air operations, large scale road/rail transport, and distribution management gained from a reputable organization

Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Somalia is a requirement.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, commodity handling practices.
  • Ability to work with different cultures.
  • Experience maintaining corporate systems and running queries on ongoing shipments, pipeline information, and food stock.
