Logistics Officer -Mogadishu
The Role:
The incumbent will be the program’s primary contact for logistics operations. He or she will monitor the national pipelines for all medical, food and other products to ensure sufficient quantities are readily available. The position holder will provide technical assistance in-country logistics and inventory management of all humanitarian supplies in Somalia.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning
- Participate and assist in forecasting, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating supply chain operations.
- Communicates constantly with stakeholders and GIK, WFP and other project team with updated order status information and stock level
- Supports in medical, food and other NFI products data collection, data entry, analysis and reporting
- Check and make sure that all data was properly captured and recorded in our last mobile solution (LMMS)
In-country logistics
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage in-country logistics in all office and area operations.
- Assist with scheduling distribution to meet requested delivery dates and ensure deliveries are made on time.
- Provide periodic support supervision of all logics team across the country and other stakeholders.
- Process documentation for logistics operations and resolve operational issues, escalating complex issues to Supply chain manager on time
- Ensures that transport of medical, food and other NIF supplies complies with local government regulations standards
- Assists with customs-clearance procedures for all humanitarian supplies including GIK through all port and airport of the country.
- Communicates constantly with all other stakeholders and WVS team with updated order and logistics status information
- Ensures adherence to the Good Distribution Practice
- Checks for conformity upon receipt of goods and during dispatch using the order documentation and general regulations
- Regularly monitors all food and medical supplies, plans for on time distribution before the expire.
Warehousing and inventory management
- Provide technical support for warehousing and inventory management at storage facilities according to prescribed standards.
- Ensure that accounting, reporting, and internal control systems are accurate and complete and that all relevant records are kept up to date.
- Monitor food and other medical and non-medical supplies product inventory to track trends and ensure proper distribution from source to beneficiary.
- Conduct regular physical counts of inventory in the warehouse, including checks on expiry dates and reports
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure the safety and compliance of warehouses, including verifying that fumigation and pest control activities are carried out on time for all storage facilities.
- Coordinate and manage all inbound and outbound logistics operations at the national level, ensuring timely and efficient movement of supplies across the country.
- Oversee stores and warehouse management while building the capacity of field staff through training and technical support to ensure proper warehouse operations and compliance with standards.
- Manage BPS screening for all vendors, including reviewing and clearing hit lists, and perform MDM functions such as project creation to ensure compliance and accurate system records.
- Oversee the logics team and ensure that the KPI of store will achieved (Po has to receive on time and payment delay has to be avoid).
Other Logistics Activities
- Provide logistics support to the Supply Chain Operation in alignment with the Supply Chain Manual, processes and procedures
- International Shipments-Liaise with the Supply Chain team in Nairobi on all shipments being shipped to Mogadishu from different parts of World and support in arranging for final destination. Track all international shipments and update on a weekly basis for all office
- Tax Exemption Process-Work with Administration Officer in Mogadishu and MOF in Hargeisa and Garoowe to obtain tax exemption letter and follow up with relevant Government Ministries to ensure timely approval for all office
- Customs Clearance-Work with Clearing agent to ensure that Goods are cleared from Port on time to avoid demurrage Changes and work with Supply chain team for supporting clearance for all operation
- Filing Documents -File all completed documentation and stored in readiness for external and internal audit requirements
Essential:
- Degree in the following fields: Health Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, or social sciences.
- At least three years of relevant work experience in public health supply chain

Working Environment:
The position is field-based in Mogadishu with frequent travel to field operation areas required.
