1**. Purpose of the Position**

In the context of WHO South Sudan’s COVID-19 Incident Management System (IMS), the incumbent will support the logistics team from the WHO Country Office and South Sudan Ministry of Health in all relevant operational, supply and logistics matters, including identifying needs and gaps, and guiding access to common logistics facilities at country level. The incumbent will facilitate logistic matters associated with shipments of goods and distribution of supplies related to the cOVID-19 pandemic and any other emergency.

The mission of WHO’s Health Emergencies Program (WHE) is to help coordinate action, to prevent, prepare for, detect, rapidly respond to, and recover from outbreaks and emergencies.

  1. Work to be performed

Under supervision of the Operations Support and Logistics Lead, and in close collaboration with other Incident Management Team (IMT) members, other technical programs, and relevant partners, the incumbent will:

  • Provide logistical support to the COVID-19 team
  • Link with the Task Force Logistics group (Logistics Cluster, WFP, UNICEF, MAF, etc.)
  • Coordinate with the WHO warehouse for COVID-19 related supplies in Juba and field offices
  • Coordinate with Ministry of Health, other UN Agencies and implementing partners on requests and distribution of all COVID-19 and other relevant supplies
  • Follow-up with procurement unit locally on COVID-19 orders and requests.
  • Follow-up with Nairobi on Supply Portal orders and requests.
  • Perform any other incident-specific related duties, as required by the WHO COVID-19 incident manager.
  1. Education
  • Essential****: A bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, logistic management, logistics. engineering, pharmacy or engineering from an accredited/recognized institute.
  • Desirable****: Professional certification/qualification in areas such as transport, distribution and supply chain management. Degree or training in information management systems and their application to logistic, transport or supply management and monitoring.
  1. Experience
  • Essential: At least 2 years’ experience in managing logistics operations and supply operations in international organizations/institutions, part of which in the field supporting emergency humanitarian operations.
  • Desirable: Experience working with UN or INGOs in disease surveillance program in South Sudan. knowledge of import/export and customs administration
  1. Other Skills (e.g. IT)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Good knowledge English. Knowledge of Arabic and local languages is an asset.
