Job Description

In response to the arrival of refugees in Greece in 2015, the IRC has been offering SMS, WASH and Protection services. Among others, through its child protection programs, the IRC has been offering individual support through case management to vulnerable children and their families, non-formal educational activities for children through Safe Healing and Learning Spaces and emergency accommodation and protection to unaccompanied children. Since 2019, IRC Hellas implements an alternative care project for unaccompanied children and will now pilot this project to Greek born children and adults.

Job Overview: We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic and motivation to join our team as a Job Counselor. As a Job Counselor, you will be responsible for providing job counseling, coordinating trainings, and working together with key partners to ensure the successful implementation of our integration activities.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide individual employment support and job counseling for clients, offering guidance and assistance throughout their job search journey.

• Design, organize, and lead Job Readiness Trainings and information sessions for youth, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the job market.

• Conduct needs assessments and service mapping activities to identify areas for employability and skills development programming.

• Collaborate with individuals and teams to promote effective delivery of our integration services.

• Proactively identify and report any issues related to clients' participation, working closely with the Livelihoods Manager to address them.

• Accurately collect and update relevant project data on a weekly and monthly basis, ensuring the detailed tracking of program outcomes.

• Maintain program files and database, ensuring that information is organized and easily accessible.

• Actively participate in team meetings and external meetings as requested, contributing your expertise and insights.

• Foster and nurture relationships with businesses and other relevant parties, actively supporting outreach initiatives and fostering productive partnerships.

• Create counseling material, such as presentations, handouts, and handbooks, tailored to the specific requirements of the role and project deliverables.

• Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive work environment, working constructively within the team and taking initiative on new tasks.

Requirements:

• BA/BS Degree in social sciences, education, psychology, law, or a related field is required.

• Demonstrated responsiveness to queries and referrals, with the ability to effectively manage a varying workload.

• Exceptional ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, facilitating clear and concise interactions with clients and all involved parties.

• Proficiency in digital literacy, particularly in Excel, to effectively manage and analyze data.

• Punctuality and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and deliverables.

• Strong ability to meet targets and perform effectively in high-pressure situations, maintaining a high level of performance in a fast-paced environment.

• A degree and/or year-long (minimum) training in counseling/career counseling will be considered an asset.

• Experience working with refugees and vulnerable groups of people will be considered an asset.

• Fluency in both English and Greek, both spoken and written, is required.

• Good knowledge of French will be considered an asset, further enhancing your ability to support a diverse group of individuals.

• Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion and cohesion in IRC Greece

• Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies

Working Environment:

• In-person 9:00-17:00, Monday to Friday

• Occasionally, there may be a need to travel to other areas of IRC programs within Athens, allowing for exposure to different contexts and experiences.
