You have:

  • A post-graduate or equivalent qualification/degree in Law.
  • Has previous experience in working in programming in relevant areas, such as, gender, social work, GBV service provision to GBV survivors.
  • At least 02-04 years’ of work in record keeping, data entry, data cleaning, data analysis. Experience of working with Surveys/data collection using a digital data handling system will be an advantage.
  • Clear understanding of gender, power abuse, and issues surrounding violence against women.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Previous experience with NGOs, INGOs, or other international donor agencies would be an asset.

Job Description

SCOPE OF WORK:

Working with of the Senior WPE Officer of Women's Protection and Empowerment, the Legal counselor- Service provider will identify the legal requirements in safe spaces for women and girls, provide legal advice including support for acquiring documents, and legal awareness sessions.

They will conduct direct case intake for counselling on site and will also receive referrals from other providers, including UNHCR and other NGOs. As well as refer cases requiring legal representation in courts. Also responsible for conducting legal sessions about early marriage, Jordan labor law, cyber- crime, domestic violence, and sessions on protection, Entitlements, legal status, statelessness, and other issues, as decided by the needs at field level. They will work in close collaboration with WPE counsellors to receive GBV and non GBV cases for legal counselling and to refer GBV cases to the WPE counsellors for case management.

Key Responsibilities: -------------------------

- Identify legal needs and provide on-site counseling to people of concern. - Evaluate cases in need of cash for legal documentation and after IRC approval, assist persons of concern by accompanying them to relevant administrative bodies, for issues related to documentation. - Coordinate with the Service Delivery Specialist for referral of cases with protection concerns to UNHCR and the Family Protection Department. - Conduct case intake on site applying digital data collection system. - Provide legal information about different legal topics such as early marriage, protection, statelessness cyber- crime and other related issues as determined by the requirements at field-level. - Refer cases for mediation and negotiation as needed (e.g., on housing, land, and property issues). - Analyze data and highlight trends and legal protection needs. - Under the mentorship of the direct supervisor, facilitate one-on-one interviews and focus group discussions with refugees, host community members, state actors and service providers in the field on selected protection and legal concerns. - Keep records of the urgent legal needs identified and the actions taken to assist affected PoCs. - Produce regular reports on activities based on IRC tools. - Work to strengthen IRC’s relationship with refugees, refugee/host community leaders and municipal actors to maintain good access to POCs; and - Write monthly reports on the activities conducted, advancements, challenges and requested support. - Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Representation and Coordination ------------------------------------

Attending all related meetings with UNHCR and other service providers and coordinate with partners for referrals .

Qualifications

- · A post-graduate or equivalent qualification/ degree in Law. - · Has previous experience in working in programming in relevant areas, such as, gender, social work, GBV service provision to GBV survivors. - · At least 02-04 years’ of work in record keeping, data entry, data cleaning, data analysis. Experience of working with Surveys/data collection using digital data handling system will be an advantage. Working for NIC registration will be preferred. - · Clear understanding of gender, power abuse, and issues surrounding violence against women. - · Excellent communication and presentation skills. - · Previous experience with NGOs, INGOs, or other international donor agencies would be an asset.

Working Environment: This position is based in Irbid. The security situation in the IRC intervention areas is calm and the security department of IRC shares regular security updates to keep the management and staff informed about the new developments.
