In UNICEF, over 1000 colleagues work in the Supply Function across 97 countries and 173 offices. UNICEF's supply and logistics headquarters - Supply Division - is located in Copenhagen, which is also home to the largest humanitarian warehouse in the world. The Learning & Development (L&D) unit of the Human Resources Centre in Supply Division (SD), Copenhagen is responsible for learning and development for the supply function staff as well as partners. Under guidance of the supervisor, the UNV will provide support to the roll-out of key learning initiatives in the supply function.

The Supply Division Learning & Development unit is a small team that focuses on delivering results, while supporting each other, helping each other grow, and remaining curious. In 2024, we have several capacity and career development projects that we need to deliver on. Therefore, we are looking for someone who can drive the projects from the initial analysis to the delivery, measurement, and evaluation.

More concretely, your tasks would be to:

• Engage with stakeholders to analyze and prioritize capacity and career development needs within areas of strategic importance to the UNICEF Supply Function. • Identify solutions to address the needs in collaboration with the target group, your colleagues in the unit and in the Human Resources Centre as well as other stakeholders. • Lead the development of the identified solutions. • Ensure strategies and methods for impact measurement and evaluation are a part of the process of the solutions. • Support the Learning & Development unit with other projects and tasks.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities;
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/expected outputs:

• Design, development, delivery, and evaluation of interventions defined in the analysis phase within areas such as (but not limited to) onboarding, digital dexterity, and career development. Interventions that are inclusive and accessible.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

UN Volunteer entitlements and allowances: The purpose of the allowances and entitlements paid to UN Volunteers is to enable UN Volunteers to sustain a secure standard of living at the duty stations in line with United Nations standards without incurring personal costs. The allowances are in no way to be understood as compensation, reward, or salary in exchange for the UN Volunteer’s service.
