Job Description

Job Overview:

Since 2018 the LEGO Foundation has been an integral supporter of the IRC’s early childhood development programming, enabling IRC’s efforts to bring the power of learning through play to millions of children affected by some of the most urgent and intractable refugee crises of our time – from Syria to Myanmar to East Africa and Latin America.

In response to our expansive, global LEGO portfolio, the IRC Education Technical Unit requires more strategic and thoughtful coordination between each element of this portfolio to ensure that findings are shared across contexts and projects, and maximum collective impact is achieved.

The Learning Coordinator is responsible for overall technical coordination between all current LEGO projects and potential new business opportunities. This is a challenging position, which requires strong organization skills, analytic skills, strategic thinking, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well across multiple cultures and grant timelines. While each LEGO project consists of distinct team members, including country-level technical, operational and management staff, the Learning Coordinator will provide support to key project staff by sharing tools and resources used across other LEGO projects, identifying key trends and lessons learns, and supporting cross-project collaboration and sharing.

The role reports into the Education Technical Unit and will be focused on supporting a technical team and country programs to coordinate and effectively share content, resources, lessons learned, and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) data across the various programs and technical units.

This position reports to the Director, ECD and Strategic Initiatives and Program Coordinator. This position will coordinate with MEL, Institutional Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) and global project teams.

Major Responsibilities:

Knowledge Management

- Lead in the conceptualization, design, testing, finalization and population of a LEGO-centric content management system that integrates strategically and cleanly with the Education Technical Unit’s knowledge management system - Develop tools and mechanisms for consistent and comprehensive advisory efforts from the global level to country and regional programs

Cross-Organizational Communication and Collaboration

- Develop structures and tools for flow of information between projects and technical units and broader HQ units - Identify and support opportunities for shared learning and lessons to be used across projects - Share learning beyond LEGO projects – i.e., with Technical Unit and country program colleagues who could value from LEGO project insights regardless of donor - Responsible for being the most up to date on information, materials and landscaping produced by the LEGO Foundation, other LEGO-funding projects and projects relevant to the various LEGO project needsLead on the coordination of routine findings events across projects

Data Consolidation and Analysis

- Build tools and systems for collection, interpretation and sharing of MEL data in relevant, targeted ways across projects - Analyze and clearly communicate trends, challenges and opportunities based on program data and implementation experiences and identify strategies to address challenges and amplify successes - Collaborate with the Education M&E Advisor to ensure alignment around M&E systems and tools

External Communications and Business Development

- Develop communications strategies and products highlighting lessons learned through IRC’s LEGO portfolio - Work in close collaboration with IRC’s fundraising and education policy and advocacy teams to leverage experiences from LEGO-funded projects for future funding, adaptation and expansion to new geographies - Support in proposal development, presentations, donor meetings and donor reports, external report dissemination in collaboration with IRC’s fundraising team and the Education Technical Unit, as needed

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of progressive experience as a project coordinator or learning manager or equivalent - Proven experience in coordination of monitoring and evaluation or learnings across related, but different projects - Excellent speaking, writing and facilitation skills in English; proficiency in French, Spanish or Arabic preferred - Expert synthesis and distillation skills; expert organization and communication skills - Experience working and managing inputs across multiple contexts - High level of proficiency with MS Office, documents management solutions and project management tools

Preferred experience & skills:

- Understanding of the challenges and solutions related to organizational information sharing and MEL data synthesis - Experience with knowledge or content management systems

Working Environment:

- Standard office working environment - This role may require working remotely full or part time and part time remote employees may be required to share workspace. Though work may be remote, candidate will ideally be based in Eastern Standard Time. - This role requires working remotely full or part time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled work hours.
