Duties and Responsibilities Background To promote multilingualism in the United Nations, language courses are offered in the six official UN languages. The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO) in Tunisia is seeking qualified candidates for the recruitment of a teacher in English with extensive and proven experience in teaching English to professionals on a part-time basis as individual contractors. Language and communication skills of the staff are critical for the success of the RCO in its mandated duties. It is therefore a priority to strengthen the general communication and English language skills of all staff. The Individual contractor should report to the Head of RCO who will evaluate the outputs and certified the accomplishment of learning sessions based on the contract terms.

Responsibilities : The language training will be offered to National RCO staff. Based on the staff English proficiency language, they will be divided into two groups. The first group will benefit from a basic English language course tailored to their level and needs while the second group will attend targeted lessons in professional English with strong emphasis on writing and presentation skills as well on speaking skills. It is expected that the teacher conducts an individual assessment to determine the level of each staff member and separate the two groups. The Individual Contractor/Language Teacher is responsible for the followings: - Developing a tailored training course for each group - Planning and conducting lessons weekly for the first group through basic English language and communication lessons - Planning and conducting one lesson weekly for the second group focusing on professional English, writing, speaking and presentation skills - Evaluating the progress of individual staff on a monthly basis to measure progress, identify barriers to learning and recommend action to overcome barriers - Organize English proficiency tests at the beginning and end of the course and verify satisfactory achievement of the trainees - Identify appropriate learning software for both groups and mentor staff in its use - Identify useful online resources and courses for each group and mentor staff in their use - establish a lessons calendar and keep a record of participation of individual staff members

Qualifications/special skills An advanced university degree in English language teaching is required. A first level degree with an additional 2 years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

At least 3 years of professional experience teaching of foreign language to adult learners, preferably in an occupational/institutional setting is required. Experience in developing specialized courses is an advantage. Experience working in a multicultural environment is an asset. Experience in teaching all levels is highly desirable.

Languages Fluency in English and French is required. Khnowledge of Arabic is desirable.
