In Zimbabwe, WFP has a strong track record of delivering food assistance and managing supply chains during crises, while building resilience to shocks among vulnerable communities. The July 2022-December 2026 Country Strategic Plan (CSP) provides a road map to promote shock-responsive social protection and sustainable and resilient food systems.

The 2022- 2026 CSP articulates collaborative efforts to better anticipate future needs, improve data and forecasting and strengthen livelihoods and local capacities to withstand, respond to and adapt more readily to sudden or chronic stresses. WFP will support informed decision making on food security and nutrition in Zimbabwe, and will integrate nutrition, gender, protection and inclusion, youth engagement, technological innovation and decentralized zero hunger action throughout the plan. WFP will establish new partnerships and leverage existing ones to their full potential, including those with the other Rome-based and other United Nations agencies.

WFP Zimbabwe’s July 2022 - December 2026 CSP focuses on the below areas; • Social and humanitarian assistance for food-and nutrition-insecure populations in tar-geted rural and urban areas. • Support to urban food insecure households for resilient livelihoods. • Support to rural communities for climate resilient livelihoods, sustainable management of natural resources and enhanced participation in local markets and value chains. • Collaboration with national actors to enhance capacities to develop, coordinate and im-plement well-informed, effective and equitable actions for achieving food and nutrition security. • Services to humanitarian and development actors in Zimbabwe so they can implement their programmes and provide support to their beneficiaries in an efficient, effective, and reliable way at all times, including during crises.

a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development

Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. The country has a tropical climate with a rainy season that usually lasts from late October to March. The climate is moderated by the altitude. Zimbabwe is faced with recurring droughts and floods. The Country enjoys relative peace with generally low crime rates, though all staff are required to be on high alert for potential muggings and robberies. The country uses a multicurrency regime with the usage of the USD dominating most transactions. Though relatively expensive, most basic commodities are available within the country. The public health service is generally ill equipped to deal with most emergencies and health conditions. Alternative health care is available from private sector and NGO owned health institutions, though the cost is high and most medical insurance schemes incur shortfalls. International staff are generally recommended to send their children to private and trust schools where standards are still high. The country also has some great tourist attractions from safaris in the lowlands to the stunning Eastern Highlands to the fascinating Great Zimbabwe ruins, there is something for everyone, both in terms of activities and price. Great safari destinations include Lake Kariba and Matusadona, Hwange, Mana Pools, Matopos, Save Valley, and Gonarezhou. Vumba and Nyanga are idyllic locations in the Eastern Highlands. In addition, Victoria Falls is either a nine-hour drive or a one-hour flight from Harare, which is a must see!
