JOB PURPOSE

WFP Armenia CO needs the services of a qualified staff to provide support in the technolgy field to enable the office deliver its programs and ensure that it meets the Corporate digital strategy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

ACCOUNTABILITIES::

  • Operate the Local Area Network and Wide Area Network and Virtual Private Networks and Edge firewalls;
  • Test, install, manage the operation and maintenance of radio (HF and VHF), satellite and other telecommunication systems;
  • Ensure timely installation and upgrading of LAN/WAN information systems (e.g., anti-virusand corporate standard applications, etc.);
  • Provide hardware and software troubleshooting support to all office locations; Receive, test, and install IT and telecommunications hardware; perform maintenance and minor repairs on hardware equipment;
  • Provide staff training on all hardware, software, files management/maintenance; carry out periodic computer skills surveys to determine end user knowledge of applications; and identify training requirements and propose cost effective measures to upgrade staff skills;
  • Resolve operational problems, operate the equipment expertly and under difficult physical circumstances;
  • Follow set emergency response processes and procedures as required to provide support in enabling emergency food assistance needs to be met;
  • Act as the focal point for IT Procurement. Request quotes/issue tenders; participate in identifying potential suppliers, evaluating bids, prepare contracts with suppliers, maintain
  • Roster of WFP Suppliers. Ensure that proper WFP procedures are followed at all times;
  • Act as focal point for IT and telecommunication equipment in Global Equipment Management System (GEMS) in WFP Armenia CO, prepare inventory loan forms and ensure return of the inventory equipment by the staff members, and maintain Loan register;
  • Implementation of IT assessment and support WFP Armenia CO in cash-based transfer (CBT);
  • Perform other related duties as and when required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

  • WFP CO has a modern working technology office environment;
  • Working with the help of RB, the office has been migrated tothe new Global connetivity platform;
  • GEMS is uptodate;
  • At least 4 technical trainings delivered to staff.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable

Experience:

  • Has worked in a multicultural environment;
  • Has managed LAN/WAN environment;
  • Has experience resolving complex technical issues involving electronic equipment;
  • Has hands on exepreince with radio equipment, VHF;
  • Has worked with head of units in defining requirements for functional area;
  • Has experience with the application of client services standards to resolve or escalate clients’ service problems

Knowledge & Skills: LAN/WAN skills desirable Prior experience with any UN organisation in a simillar position is an asset

Languages: English
